how do you stretch your septum?

So my concern is how do I stretch my septum if my piercing is way up there. I can't imagine how I would with just a regular taper.

So I plan on getting my septum pierced this weekend, but this shop doesn't pierce with niobium because of its satin finish. So I plan on getting it pierced with an industrial strength retainer, which they carry, but my question is, does the shine from the steel really expose the septum piercing?...

septum troubles

i've had my septum pierced for about a year and a half. i had it done with a retainer and for the first 5 months it stayed flipped up. after that i changed the jewelry to a circular barbell, but still kept it up the majority for the time for school and work. it would make an appearance on the weekend...
