Everytime I tape my ears

Everytime I tape my ears I use flareless plugs and they work fine going in but everytime i try to take them out it seems to be rly difficult and annoying, is this normal or am I doing this wrong? btw I do about 2-3 wrapsand use plumbers tape

is 12mm a 1/2 inch?

ok I'm so confused, is 12mm a 1/2 inch cus i can only find 12mm tapers but when i look at plugs they are 13mm, am i gunna hafta stretch to 13mm with plugs? p.s. this prolly sounds like i hav no idea wut i'm doing and the truth is I don't, so plz no replys with sarcasm.
