Or you can use the ruler to measure the jewelry itself. Your lobes will still contract a bit when there's no jewelry in them, and it's much easier to just measure a piece of jewelry you know fits well.

Retainers are great for healing, just either keep it flipped up or down during healing, don't keep messing with the jewelry. Also, are you referring to gourmet sea salt, or did you mean Bactine? I'm assuming the former would be fine as long as it's just straight sea salt. If you meant Bactine, I'd avoid it as it will delay ...

That's only if you plan on keeping them. If they're giving you problems and you can't have them for your job, then just take them out. 

I've had a few dogs who have chewed on their feet during allergy season. It's really something a vet should look at, but it's definitely a possibility.  Horn seems to be pretty forgiving as long as you oil it once in a while. I'm not sure how strong it is at super small sizes (I'm curious as to how durable some of those 18g Tawapa desgins are), but my old 8g hangies were fantastic.
