i've been trying to stretch my ears for a while now.. but with no luck. i've had my first holes in my ears pierced since i was 3, and i'm now 16 maybe it's to do with that? i can get a spike through about 2mm in my right ear but my left ear just wont stretch.. it's not that it hurts too much, it just wont physically go through! my friends who have their ears stretched are all at about a 10mm, but stretched it during, or not long after the healing period after piercing. do you think that my ears not being able to stretch could be to do with how long they've been pierced?
any ideas would be greatful ^__^

I had my ears pierced for over 15 years and had not worn jewelry in them for over 5 when I started stretching them. I am at 5/8'' now. It took me 4-5 years to get there.

What size *spike* are you trying to shove in your ear piercing? I have a feeling that is where the problem lies. Also, what kind of lube are you using? What do you plan on wearing for jewelry?

I think Quinn has the right idea, are you streaching with the next gauge up or skipping sizes?

My ears were VERY stubborn when I started off. It didn't really get any easier until I got to 4ga.... then it got difficult again after 0ga

the spike that i have beenusing is fairly gradual- starting at a normal earing size going up to around a 3 or 4mm. i've tried stretching mainly just as i have come out the shower..
what do you mean by the whole gauge thing? where i come from we measure in mm's!

I have the same problem with my left ear. I either use a lot of lube, or I slowly stretch with teflon tape. and when I stretch, I never go more than 2mm at a time.
