Hi there. I'm kind of new to this. I was hoping you'd be able to help me out a little.

I got my ears pierced a good few years ago at Claires with a gun *shudders*. I was playing with the idea of stretching my lobes some time in the near future and was wondering about the gauge of the studs that the guns use, so that I know where to start from. The holes look pretty damn small to me, anyway. Do you think I'd be best just getting 16G tapers and starting from the very bottom?

The 16g should just slip right in as most gun piercings are an 18g or 16g. If you have had these for a while then I would suggest a 14g earring and it should slip right in, no taper needed. I didnt start using tapers until after 8g because the stretches were so minimul and my lobes look great, but I waited quite a bit before upgauging each step. Just let your body tell you what is comfortable and you will be fine.
