I wouldn't suggest a larger flare, honestly, they already come with a more then capable flare. You are going to have a hell of a time getting them in and out with a larger flare.
1.5" lobes, 4g conches (punched at 4g stretched to 2g) , 2g nostrils (stretched from 8g piercings), 18g high nostrils,
and chances are i keliod more then you

That depends on how stretchy your ears are. My 1/2" eyelets sometimes fall out and I don't find the flares big at all, but my ears are extremely elastic.

Will knit/crochet for pretties. Seriously, try me. I like shiny ^.^

ook, GINA :) I'd like these without the giganticus gem in the center, and dont know what color the blue gems are.

also, what color gems are on ellen's? I can decide between green ti with the "cascading" colors and the blue with alternating, knowing the gem colors would help :) :) :)

Ahh noes, trumped by the stalker!  I think the top one is BZ, but I'm not certain.  They might be aqua.  Aqua is light blue, and BZ is kind of a teal-ish hue...

Ellen's have faceted opal, then peridot, then emerald!  With a big ol... Peridot in the center, I believe.

    Barry,

I would love your honest opinion on whether yellow anodized titanium could pass for / look like gold. I looked through many stock photos to get a good idea but some look like they do, and others look just really sunshine yellow.

Also, would you be able to use sapphire cabochon in 0g gemmed eyelets?

I'm looking to match my ring =) (gold [75%?], star stone/ sapphire)

    thank you!

I think yes!  If you're talking about the green ones, yes!  They'd look great as circles too.

    bommie:
opinion on whether yellow anodized titanium could pass for / look like gold.

i have wondered this one many many times...  afaict, the answer is no...  ill let barry answer (since you asked him) and id be curious to hear his response, but heres my reasoning:

1 - anatometal is great about very-highly-polishing their jewelry... it is almost surreal, actually...  regular-gold is actually kinda 'dull' and with more wear gets duller...  yes, you/i can always polish it back up to shiny-consistency - but theres an undertone of dark/dull in gold (i think) that just does not exist in titanium.

2 - -you- will always know that the jewelry is not gold, but rather ti...  that knowledge is often enough to mentally-skew any impartial judgments about what the ti will look like...  i know that when i see someone elses jewelry, the truth is that i often ask what material it is (sometimes offerring my guess beforehand)...  i am more-often-wrong and when ive had my mental-eye adjusted for the correct answer, the jewelry always ends up 'looking different'...

i know that right now - gold, particularly - is quite expensive...  and since they use 18k (not 14k like most jewlery, particulary heavy-use items like rings) gold, the cost is going to be quite-high...  i think it might not be as much about whether the color will 'pass' as to whether you will feel like it is the 'right answer' for your situation...  for instance, in india they often use 20k and 22k gold, which has quite a different (even darker, imo) look to it than 14k (or even 18k)...  personally, i like 18k - but truth is that 14k is useful in so many contexts due to its strength...

anyways, id be curious to know what barry thinks about yellow-ti being able to pass as 'gold' - just in general...  i, too, literally this past weekend, was taking a photo of my ring to ask about 'matching it' like you were...  gl, h.

    -----

for -my- case, i was curious to know about the details for the lapis-stones (genuine) were...  im trying to 'match' the stone in my class-ring - which is (i believe) a dyed lapis (8x10mm) because it is quite-dark-blue with hardly any gold-flecks (and no white at all).  anyways, i was curious to know whether there is any way to get some photos of any lapis-ends for straight barbells.  or really, -any- photos of lapis in some anatometal jewelry...  thanx in advance...

exactly 8.25250000001mm (0g) ear lobes only... so far...

harold - beautiful answer, and great points!  Way to take that from every angle.

As far as the question... Does ti gold look like real gold?  It's not really a question that can be answered.  You'll just have to make it out to a show to see what it looks like at some point.  Some people rave over it, and lots of people buy it.  Some people say it's different.  It's just about personal opinion.

Sorry, I'm not Barry, but I have seen it!  Hehe.

I -can- tell you for absolute certain that our ti gold will not match this gold.  It's soft looking, not.. Well, read harolds post!

Re: Ask Barry Anything... Except Price!

    Thank you Harold, Malarky.

I think I know what you are talking about, concerning the hardness/ softness of the metal.

I'm thinking, I might still go ahead and order it because the only metal part that shows is where the stones are set, and it's not much... =) I'm thinking the yellow/ gold tone will just look better than high polish for a better match.

I just would like to know if there are sapphire / dark blue cabochons available for 0g eyelets. ^^

    hello hello

so, i just went through every page (no joke, all 83 of em, im bored) so as to learn all there is to know about almost all that is Anatometal... but i wanted to clear up 2 things that i wasn't 100% on.

barry said a few times that 1/2" eyelets can have 21 or 20 stones, and most designs ive seen are 21 (my potential one too) but in your chart, and on BAF's pre-order page, it still says 20. i dont want there to be an integrity issue with the stones at 21, nor do i want to have to change my design after sending it in, so i want to make sure before i finalize my design.

and, are these (some new) gems available in 2mm for eyelets: blue zircon, tanzanite, champagne zirconia, lavender zirconia and mint green? i think you may have already answered about BZ and mint but i wanted to be sure for the others.

    thanks!

forgive me; i don't do forums often, correctly, or ever at all. but i do love me some BAF :)

For now, no, because we can't be certain the specific stones we're looking for would fit the parts we make. Not to mention, at 2mm, in what we could possibly get for that stone (if we could), it would likely be closer to a CZ than anything that resembles color. Let's stick with the stones we do carry for now. I hear that tanzinite stone is the bomb! ;)
