bommie: opinion on whether yellow anodized titanium could pass for / look like gold.
i have wondered this one many many times... afaict, the answer is no... ill let barry answer (since you asked him) and id be curious to hear his response, but heres my reasoning:
1 - anatometal is great about very-highly-polishing their jewelry... it is almost surreal, actually... regular-gold is actually kinda 'dull' and with more wear gets duller... yes, you/i can always polish it back up to shiny-consistency - but theres an undertone of dark/dull in gold (i think) that just does not exist in titanium.
2 - -you- will always know that the jewelry is not gold, but rather ti... that knowledge is often enough to mentally-skew any impartial judgments about what the ti will look like... i know that when i see someone elses jewelry, the truth is that i often ask what material it is (sometimes offerring my guess beforehand)... i am more-often-wrong and when ive had my mental-eye adjusted for the correct answer, the jewelry always ends up 'looking different'...
i know that right now - gold, particularly - is quite expensive... and since they use 18k (not 14k like most jewlery, particulary heavy-use items like rings) gold, the cost is going to be quite-high... i think it might not be as much about whether the color will 'pass' as to whether you will feel like it is the 'right answer' for your situation... for instance, in india they often use 20k and 22k gold, which has quite a different (even darker, imo) look to it than 14k (or even 18k)... personally, i like 18k - but truth is that 14k is useful in so many contexts due to its strength...
anyways, id be curious to know what barry thinks about yellow-ti being able to pass as 'gold' - just in general... i, too, literally this past weekend, was taking a photo of my ring to ask about 'matching it' like you were... gl, h.

for -my- case, i was curious to know about the details for the lapis-stones (genuine) were... im trying to 'match' the stone in my class-ring - which is (i believe) a dyed lapis (8x10mm) because it is quite-dark-blue with hardly any gold-flecks (and no white at all). anyways, i was curious to know whether there is any way to get some photos of any lapis-ends for straight barbells. or really, -any- photos of lapis in some anatometal jewelry... thanx in advance...
