It depends greatly on teh shape and size of your tragus... Id talk to the piercer you want to have do it and see what they have to say about it being possible or not...

    Im just that awesome!

    Re: Tragus Punching

Yep heading there today to have a chat and get measured up so I can order some sparklies ;D thinking an internally threaded tunnel or eyelet...but the eyelet only comes in steel so pretty sure I'll have to scrap that idea for initial jewellery :/ I personally think it's big enuff and reason I'd like the punch is I don't like the way a pierce slightly deforms and pushes out a little bit of the cartilage even at smaller sizes... As far as potential retirement or downsize down the track, I know that the cartilage will never grow back but will the skin that fills the hole be stable and strong enuff to support a regular gauge jewellery? I'd like to think I could down the track have something less extreme with a 3mm ball or whatever that will mask any scarring... Also I just read about a guy with a 'broken' tragus from a regular pierce so is that common? And do I increase the liklihood of that with a punch?

    Re: Tragus Punching

You can get eyelets in titanium too, and steel isn't bad for initial jewelry, unless you react badly to it anyway.

My tragus was pierced at 14g which is prolly the biggest a piercer will do them with a needle, but I'm now at 12g. I found it pretty much self stretched really, 14g stuff kept just falling out lol. With the tragus being so small, you'd prolly want a smaller punch if you can, and maybe stretch up later a little bit. Even if it's a small punch tho it will still be better than a needle in terms of pressure/pushing cart around, so good for healing even if you DO stretch later on. I don't think stretching more than one or maybe two sizes would be a very good idea tho, as the piercing is gonna be close to the edge of the cart wherever you place it.

I think 10g would be good, you can get eyelets and tunnels in metal that small, glass starts at 12g even, and earskins too at 10g.

    8g lobes, 2g conches, 8g septum, 10g center lip, 12g left tragus, 14g right eyebrow, 10g 'halfadravya'

One day: 1/2" lobes, 0g conches, 12g right tragus... maybe more

    Re: Tragus Punching

Thanks heaps dude...the place I order my jewellery from here didn't have the eyelet in titanium, and I particularly wanted that one as it was internally threaded screw together, as opposed single flair O-ring style.

I think I'm gonna stick with the 3mm and then I might just downsize it later I reckon...I already bought a $80 internally threaded jewelled tunnel to stick in there so I want to make use of it now, although I have a few other holes I could shove it in :D

I notice you're in Canberra Rodger...where do you get your work done?  I was impressed with your punched conches :)  I was in Canberra recently and had little emergency with one of my MDs and the guy at Steel Dragon (I think that's what it was called) somewhere in Civic fixed me up...was a really laid back and cool dude, had a few funny stories to tell as well... he did a pretty good job with my cousin's tragus too...

    Re: Tragus Punching

I got my conches at Polymorph in Newtown lol, tho I had a few other things done at Steel Demon in civic... Was the guy who you saw short haired, or had dreads?

I go to Hugh at Tattoo Culture now tho, down south Canberra, who is very experienced and skilled. Only had one from him so far, but it was my genital one lol. Didn't really want that done at SD...

    Re: Tragus Punching

Oh, so obviously you've been happy with Polymorph...I've been going to Off Ya Tree in darlinghurst and the two piercers there have been great and I've got no reason to look elsewhere really but then when u see sum great work like your punches the temptation is always there lol. The guy at SD was the dreads guy,the story behind their 'no watching' policy is pretty interesting/scary lol, some girl fainted on top of the dreads dude while he pierced the boyfriends eyebrow :/ them cracked her head and bled everwhere :o the piercing was ok apparently so full credit to that dude lol tragus punch should happen tomorrow if my sparkles arrive, should jopefully have pics...this may be my last cartilage punch so I'm gonna do my best to document...and also for dame reason I'm totally gonna eat the punch lol. Are there any health risks associated that you're aware of lol?

Cool, Tim with the dreads is good.

Haha eating your cart is ok apparently (and tough to chew, some people just swallow them whole instead), just a little gross to me lol. When I had mine done I was a little out of it, and I forgot to get pics of the chunks, so make sure you remember to do that! lol

    Re: Tragus Punching

Sorry for double posting, but I just have to say that I got this in my lunch break today....all I can say is CCCCCCRRUUUUUUUUNCH and OOOOOUUUUUUUUUUCH.

I'll try and put a more detailed account of the experience and some photos up when I get home tonight, assuming I don't have my head in a bucket of SSS all night :D

Hopefully someone can post in this thread before that so I won't be guilty of a triple post :(

    Cheers

    Re: Tragus Punching

Got loads :)  Immediately post procedure, after first SSS and shower several hours later, and then some more my mate snapped a couple of hours after that.  I'll upload them tomorrow as it's getting kinda late.....anyone wanna give me some hints on how t o embed them in the post so I don't have to do links?

So 1am, about 12 hours after procedure...pain is pretty much non existent, but I'm definitely aware of something invading my tragus now, there's no better word for it, especially when I smile or laugh in a certain way, which gives a little twinge of pain.  Was a little bit naughty and had quite a few drinks tonight but haven't noticed any additional bleeding...indulged in some natural painkiller (for want of a better 'not so incriminating' term) and it seems to have pretty much settled in terms of pain through it hurt quite a bit with a dull throbbing ache throughout the afternoon in the six hours after the procedure til I got to the pub...drugs and alcohol, huh?  Who'da thunk it :D

Okay, I'm ALREADY rambling and getting so carried away but I'm pretty proud of this  one so expect a pretty full account Geeked  I might have to somehow  post an abridged version for the time poor.

If you upload them to something like Photobucket, then just use the little tree icon when you're posting, and enter the link. :-D
