    Kids reactions to piercings.

[hope this is in the right catagory]

Just wondering what interesting reactions people have had with kids and their piercings... story telling time!!

I think the funniest, [and also most painful] reaction I've had was last Memorial Day at my friend's house... his little boy, Colby, had been tip toeing around me all day... he's only a little guy and hadn't seen me in a while, so he was playing shy. Before I left, he came up to me and did the "pick me up" gesture, so I complied. While I was holding him and talking to his mom, I noticed out of the corner of my eye that he was staring at me. I turned my head to look at him, and before I could react or move my face away, he latched onto the ball of my labret stud and PULLED. Now, grant you, this piercing was fairly new, so still a little tender... thank God this kid is so cute, because after letting go and allowing the disk of my stud snap against my teeth, he proceeded to giggle at me then swirm out of my arms and scamper away, as if he had been waiting all day just to get his hands on the shiny ball under my lip.

    I love little kids. =P

Some kids stare, but most of the kids in my extended family are used to me now. I was babysitting my little baby cousin the other day. She just turned 1 last month. <3 Anyway, she was crying, and I absolutely couldn't get her to stop, so I started wiggling my tongue around at her and crossing the sides over, and she started giggling! It's so neat, because any time I see her crying now, I just play with my tongue, and she gets all happy. She used to like keeping her fingers in my lobes when they were large enough.

I get a lot of staring a whispering, but I also tend to get a lot of genuine questions. They'll ask did that hurt, does it still hurt, how is that in there, why'd you do that, etc.

My favorite comment as of late though has to have been one that came from a young girl at the bmx track where I volunteer who said "Huh.. I didn't know you could do that" refering to my stretched lobes because I was wearing eyelets whereas I usually try to wear solid plugs out there since they tend to result in less questions. It made me giggle a little. She didn't see it as abnormal or anything, she just didn't know that it was possible.

    Current Mods: 5/8" lobe x2, 14ga lobe x4, 4ga septum, 18ga nostrils x2
    Retired Mods: 14ga vertical labret

My cousins little boy used to pet my tattoos when he was younger... when he got to where he could talk he would ask to see the skull on my leg (its colorful) whenever I would come over. He kept asking me why his mommy didn't have one too :)

I hate getting stared at my children who don't know me. It's a different look than I get from the kids that I do know.

My nephews loves my tattoos and the one who speaks coherently always says he likes my plugs. They stare out of interest not fright and that's awesome.

I don't mind kids staring at me, they're probably really curious. Parents tend to intervene before kids can ask me anything. My mom is a kindergarten teacher, so whenever one of her students recognizes me from pictures, their eyes go straight to my ears. And then my mom gets pissed when she has to explain why I have holes in my ears haha

I had a little'un bat my longer steel lobe danglies around a bit, but my lobes are only 10g right now so it'll probably take a few gauges up before people start really staring ;)

    Re: Kids reactions to piercings.

I have 1/2" lobes, and my 6 year old cousin came down from Canada to visit me.  My aunt isn't too fond of my tattoos and piercings, but she doesn't dislike them.  However for her daughter, the answer is surely no (especially since she's only 6, haha).  My little cousin sticks her finger through my lobe and says "I WANT BIG HOLES IN MY EAR!."  Then she asked me about all my tattoos that she hadn't seen, so I showed her, and she ran up to my aunt saying, "I want permanent tattoos and holes in my ear!"  I like how she specifically said "permanent" instead of just tattoo.  So she really knows what she's saying, haha.  That still makes me laugh.

This isn't a kid, but while working in a pharmacy I'd encountered a lot of elderly customers.  One particularly old woman one day liked my star chest piece and said, "wow...I really love that.  ...By any chance, do you have blue birds on your breasts?"

    Me: "...no..."

Woman:  "Oh.  I really love when women get blue birds tattooed on their breasts; I think it's lovely.   ...Are those actual holes in your ears or just the way the earring looks?"

    Me: "yes, they're actual holes."

Woman: "I really like those too.  They're really interesting but very pretty."  Then I waved goodbye as she walked out of the store with her walker while I said to myself, that is the coolest old lady I've ever met.

"For me to feel less alone, I had only to wish that there be a large crowd of spectators the day of my execution and that they greet me with cries of hate."

Little kids usually whisper, i went to the fair last weekend with my septum ring in and i had a little girl hold on to me because she was scared. I smiled because usually kids run away, but for some reason that little girl just kept holding on to me. :) She was such a sweet heart. Kids like 11-14 are usually like "ZOMGAH HOW DO YOU GET YOUR PARENTS TO LET YOU GET DOSE PURCINGS"

Good God i hate that. I also hate it when 13 year olds are like Oh my gosh are those GAUGES!!

The word gauges make me want to scream. Oh my gosh -.-

But yeah little kids reactions make me giggle. ^.^

Definitely agreed.  I hear way too much of that from even older teens who are around my age (19).  I wear earskins a lot and I used to be 00g but am now 2g... even now I get people asking "are those holes really that big," and depending on my mood I'll either just be like "yeah" or I'll go all into explaining what size they are.

A few coworkers at the grocery store have asked the basic if it hurt or how much it hurt with my piercings, especially my lobes and tongue.

00g lobes; 18g right helix; 16g left rook; 12g left conch; 8g tongue; 18g double nostrils; 14g septum

Ink: Simba on right shoulder blade; Daisy behind left ear; Sugar Skull on right forearm

    Do want.

Im still in school, so i keep all piercings hidden, but some people will notice something odd about my earrings and they crowd around asking about them, and im at a 2g too. (I only have 4 in my ears though)

When i turn 18 im going to get venoms. I love tongue piercings ^.^ They are so beautiful :)

On the same note as the gauges thing, I HATE when people call tapers "cones". I was talking shop to a girl with 2g lobes once and she stated going on and on about "cones", it took me a while to realize what she meant but when I did... ugh.

I think it's cute that my eight year old little brother has never asked me about any of my piercings or my stretched lobes. I sometimes wonder if my mom hasn't sat down and had a private talk with him about them. I catch him staring at my microdermals sometimes though.

It's not entirely related but one time I was in wal-mart and this three year old starts screaming "MOMMY MOMMY. LOOK AT THAT GIRL. SHE HAS PINK HAIR!" I smiled pretty wide and waved. Kids are adorable.

I think it's funny that most of the time the people with the most questions are adults. :P
