    Changing tunnels to plugs?`

hey i have a pretty simple question. I am not at a half inch yet but that is my goal and my parents are only fine with up to a 0 ga. i dont want anyone commenting saying "you shouldnt disobey your parents" or things like that haha my parents are pretty chill and i doubt they would get that mad but i am just wondering if it would be damaging to my ears to change to tunnels for say, a day of school, then put plugs back in when i get home so that they look smaller? I dont want to damage my ears at the cost of hiding them from my parents so that is why i ask

As long as your ears are healed (not a fresh stretch) it should be fine to change out your jewelry whenever you need to. :)

If your ears are irritated at all you don't want to be constantly messing with them and changing jewelry. You could always just leave the solid plugs in for school, although I suppose it could be harder to impress people if you did that.

edit: won't it be next summer before you can stretch to 1/2" anyway?

okay thats what i figured, just as long as theyr healed.

yeah i knoww not to do anything to an irritated piercing. and lol if thats a bit of sarcasm, thats dumb, im not stretching my ears to "impress" people i just like the look of tunnels alot more, however i do love white plugs i just dont know the details as to when acrylic is safe ive been a little confused by the whole acrylic debate for ears, i know why its bad, but what i dont get is when it is ever okay to use acrylic:S i dont understand how the same disadvantages of acrylic would not apply to a healed ear.

but yeah it would be around next summer probably later, im only at an 8 now, still healing. that still doesnt change that i may want to not wear tunnels at home though Stick out tongue

Yeah, I change my jewelry everyday (almost).  As long as they're healed!!  I'm with ya...I like to wear my earskins a lot because I like how the hole looks, but I have to wear solid plugs to work.

The only thing I've ever heard about acrylic is that it shouldn't be worn in fresh/non-healed/irritated piercings.  Acrylic is very porous (spelling?), meaning that it's full of tiny holes that can trap bacteria.  Since acrylic can't be autoclaved, there's no way to clean all that bacteria out of those little holes...so if you have a non-healed piercing, that bacteria can cause your piercing to get infected.

I, too, love white plugs!  If you like white, but don't want acrylic, you could try glass colorfronts or Kaos solidfronts.  I actually have the Kaos ones in white, and I wear them all the time.  They're superbright white.  However, I've heard that silicone (Kaos) shouldn't be worn in fresh piercings either?  Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

thanks a ton haha thats very useful. yeah im getting a job soon too so im going to look into the flesh coloured plugs when i stretch bigger.

yeah thats basically what i hear too, and that it has properties than can bond with skin if left in too long.

ive been looking at those for a while but i havent been able to find any white or black glass colorfronts that are only single flares which is EXACTLY what i want hahaa. ill keep looking, thanks for the help :)

The link wissabo posted is for single flare, so those should work just fine. They're also available in a ton of other colors and I personally really like them. Glass is really nice for fresh and healed piercings and very few people have problems with it. For some reason I thought you had stretched to 1g toward the beginning of August; if you're at 8g now it'll be waaay past summer that you're able to stretch to 1/2".
