    PitBulls.

I was wondering what everyone's opinion's were on pitbull's. I live at home with my parents and am currently going to school and my parents said they were fine with me getting a pitbull. I'm an animal lover! We already have one dog and a cat. I have a buddy who's dog just had a litter of blue pit pups and they're almost ready to go. He left one male for me and the rest are spoken for. He's selling it to me for $50. I was just wondering what everyone's opinion's are on a pitbull. I've never owned one before but I'm very excited to get this one! I was laid off from my job but I'm currently in school part-time so I'll have a lot of time to spend with it. I think that they're good dogs as long as they're raised right and not used for fighting and other malicious activities. I talked to Wissabo about her Welsh Corgi and I wanted one but I couldn't find any around here and I've wanted a PitBull since I was little and my buddy called me and told me he had a litter of them so I just couldn't turn it down.  If you have a pit, let's see some pictures of it.  Thanks! Big Smile

    Re: PitBulls.

All the pits I've met have been wonderful, loving, affectionate dogs. If I ever get a dog, it'll be a bully breed of some sort for sure. Congrats on the new puppy, it sounds like you're definitely going to raise him right and give him a wonderful loving home :)

If you live in a boring house, you might as well decorate it.

Thanks for the input :) I'm definitely going to raise him right!  I've had the oppurtunity to have many pitbulls but they were all too old.  I've wanted one that was a pup that way I could raise it myself.  You never know how the idiot before you has raised a pitbull!  I'm supposed to pick him up in a week and a half to two weeks so I hope he's ready.  I'm thinking of either naming him Bruiser or Rambo, not exactly sure yet.  Here is a picture of the father of the puppy I'm getting.  He's an AKC registered Blue American PitBull.  Sorry about the quality, it was taken with my phone.

Pitbulls are great dogs. They're big, loving goofs. Just make sure to give them plenty of exercise and mental stimulation or else they'll make a world of mischief.

Corgis are insane little blobs of energy. Mine's a nutcase; he herds my cats and figured out the bartering system. Pitbulls are much more laid back compared to corgis, at least in my experience. Or maybe I just have a freakish corgi.

I have been bit by tons of corgis, never by a pit. I love them, great dogs. I wish I could get one out of the shelter here... but I don't have enough room :(

GREAT dogs, love them to death.Boxers are my favorite, but then pits. No person is born mean, nor is any animal. It's the way we are brought up that makes who we are. Love the dog,and the dog will show love back.

    I agree 100%, Johnnie!!

Yeah, I thought my Corgi was retarded, to be honest, because she's such a fireball. hahah  Good to hear that there are other crazies out there. lol

As for the Pitbull.  They have such a bad wrap, and it's too sad!  They're such great dogs when raised properly.  As long as you have a medium to large yard, and TONS of patients (for ANY puppy, not just a Pit pup!)  I like Bruiser. hehe  TOO cute...  Our old roommate had a Pitbull/Boxer mix, and she was too adorable and too sweet.  But he played way too rough with her, so she got pretty defensive sometimes.  Just be super sweet and loving, and he'll return it!  Good luck!  HAVE FUN!!!  Post pics when you get him!

    *Elizabeth.

Don't listen. Don't hear them. They're in this together.

I intend on doing just that!  I have a pretty big yard that the dog can play in but once he's old enough he'll be going on my afternoon walks/runs with me.  I have a big park less than half a mile from my house that I go to and run around the track/baseball field.  I can't make up my mind on the name AHHHHH lol I'll just decide after I see the little guy.  I hope the puppy gets along with our lab.  She's the sweetest dog on this earth and is so loving and caring but she is so jealous of our cat.  She can't stand for the attention to be off of her for a second but she has never tried to hurt our cat.   I'm sure she'll be jealous of the new puppy but she'll have to get over it haha

My sister has a "labble", or pit bull/labrador mix. He's black and white, and crazy insane hyper, but very cute and named Maynard after the frontman of Tool. He hates cameras or I'd try to post a pic.

Will knit/crochet for pretties. Seriously, try me. I like shiny ^.^

Pits are GREAT dogs.  They need a strong hand in training tho.. especially since they tend to be naturally hyper and a bit "mouthy" especially as pups. So make sure he has lots of attention, consistent training and direction, tons of chew toys and socialize him with other dogs and humans.  You're gonna LOVE IT!

I'm a bully-breed fan as well.  Treat them well and they're fantastic!

A word of caution, though: no matter how well behaved your dog becomes, make sure to ALWAYS keep him/her on a leash, and ALWAYS keep a close hand and a watchful eye on the dog while you're outside your own yard, for the following reason:

When I was a ten, my brother (age six) was bitten by a Rottweiler.  'Lady' was one of the sweetest, most loving animals I've ever spent time with, and she even knew both of us for years by that time.  However, we were all having a snowball fight (living in Alaska at the time), and my brother had the un-luck of accidentally nailing her right in the head.  She reacted as most of us would.  Everyone was understanding, everything worked out fine... but if we had been in the state of Texas (and if my parents had been less understanding), she would have been legally destroyed, by court order.

With a well raised Bully, you don't have to protect the world from them, you have to protect THEM from THE WORLD.  Many uninformed people just see a monster, and will act like they see a monster.  Don't let them create a monstrous situation.

I remember once ages ago, a Rotti killed one of our chickens... Nothing against the dog, but the owner who let her 5-6 year old son hold the leash... kinda silly.

Also, I don't know if I'd bite someone for getting a snowball in my face... Just sayin. lol

In the right hands, Pits are great animals. If they are abused or mistreated in anyway, they turn nasty. But that can be expected of most breeds. Make sure and read Cesar Milan's books first to learn how to raise a dog to become an affectionate pack member. And remember, YOU are the pack leader!
