i've noticed that searching by keyword often yields inconsistent results, because some products are called "plug" whereas others are "plugs" and the same thing with "eyelet" or "tunnel", and plural variations of those.  also, some products are named by their brand while others are not, and some use synonyms for materials, like "gem", "gems", "cz", "cubic zirconia" or "pyrex" and "glass" and "pyrex glass"

i think it would be easier to see the whole scope of one's desired search results if the products were named more consistently.

it would also be cool in my opinion if product pages could somehow be tagged with colours the jewelry comes in so that if you searched for "green", all the products that were green would show up.  great if you're trying to find something for a special event. i'm thinking more of plugs than steel body jewelry.

 i agree with this.. i haven't really been able to use the search since the site makeover, and i don't have much patience sitting here trying to think of how to reword by search criteria, so i give up.

I did change the top site search to be like the old site a few days ago so it's the exact same. I do agree though that it needs more work.

Once we get all the kinds lined out in the site (probably 2-3 months)... we plan to probably hire an outside source to revise our basic search at the top.

As of right now the best way to pull up all green plugs, is to use the advanced search and filter it by plugs, and then type green in the keywords. It seems to pull up pretty good results that way.

Down the line we do plan to tag individual items into "color categories"... As for the plugs, eyelets, etfc they are all tagged as plugs so those work fine in the advanced search.

But my goal is to hire someone else to program the basic search so that it pulls up more wide results so that if you do type in eyelet or emerald it'll know to pull up "green plugs" as well :) it's just gonna take me some time to get around to getting this done unfortunately :(
