how long have you had the blowouts? you're better off trying to heal them than just plain cutting them off...

and what have you tried? i'm not here to belittle you for your choices.

how long have you actively been trying to fix them?

downsizing and massages will take care of scar tissue eventually, even 10 months later you could possibly fix them.

i'm guessing that you're planning on stretching your lobes again later, yeah?

it takes a lot of time to get rid of blowouts naturally. if you want your lobes that big, it's probably better to keep what you have and try to improve it than just get rid of the problem with surgery...

hehe You could probably expect some pain... I'm not sure if anyone on these boards has ever used surgery to fix blowouts... I do agree with Jesskaface, though. How far along were you when you got the damage?

Are your lobes nice and thick with out the blowout?  I'm thinking you might want to keep that extra tissue for your stretch up to 2" and then get it cut off if you still want to.  I dunno that's what i would do.  I usually don't mind my blowouts because they usually flatten out and make my lobes thicker in the long run.

    What?

They create uneven holes, promote thinning, and make the ear more difficult to stretch! Plus they look awful. Don't advise this poor kid to keep them. At least he's willing to get rid of them.

Agreed my blowouts arnt noticable unless you look from under my ear and their fricken big! Bigger than most ive seen posted on this forum.

Only time my ear is ugly is when i have no jewellery in it, which is for about 10 seconds while im changing them round.

Take my piercers advice and stretch to your goal size, if they havent been absorbed by that time get him to scapel them off if you dont like the extra support.

My ears aint thin and in all honesty the blow outs give the bottom a huge amount more support then if i didnt have them. That being said the vain person i am Im getting the scapelled when i get to my goal.

I don't know why I'm even continuing with this.

Your piercer, Dandy, must have lost a few brain cells somewhere along the way to becoming a professional. In no possible way are blowouts a good thing. It makes obvious to others that you clearly don't know much about stretching, and that you don't care about your ears. Stretching further will not make the blowouts absorb. They PROMOTE THINNING of the ears when they do finally go away. Not good.

... this is ridiculous. I probably am speaking to a cement wall and am not going to change a thing. You all are insane in the membrane, as they say.

To the OP: you're doing the right thing in wanting to get rid of your blowouts before stretching again. Congrats. Take care of your ears.

Re: getting my blowouts cut off soon...what to expect?

Cement wall? hardly, im more than open to a mature discussion :) .

My piercer never said, nor did i that blow outs are a good thing, merely that is better to stretch to your goal size before having them cut off.

Im guessing your annoyed at my comment saying that I believe that my blow outs have actually provided my lobes with extra strength; while i know this is not the case with 90% of people I can assure you(and check my posts of pictures ive provided) the blowouts have actually doubled my lobe size making them very very big --- while at the same time not thinning the real lobe.

I do agree i may be an exception to the rule and lucky but my piercer is a proffesional, he knows far more than most, fricken modblogged more times than i can count and is giving me good advice :) .

No hard feelings though, i care about my ears and i wish i had read more before causing my blowout via double flared jewelery, but taking over 1 and a half years to get to 22mm is hardly reckless.
