    Tattoo Blowout!?

    Locked Reply Contact

I searched but couldn't really find anything about this.  So if there's a previous post about it, the link to it would be great!  :-D

Anyway...I got tattoo on my wrist about 4 weeks ago, and I already know that she went too deep because the black lines are blurred.  BUT my question is the bruise-looking area by the big leaf.  That's blowout, too, right?  That sucks...what can I do about it?  Just get it covered?

If the link doesn't work, or if the picture is substandard, let me know!

Yeah, it looks blown out. I have no idea what's going on with the bruise-like area. Perhaps there's still some blood pooling under the skin, are you anemic or a slow healer? The ink could also be migrating, though I have my doubts.

Could be they went deep enough to get pigment into another layer of tissue. This can cause the pigment to spread out like a bruise. If it doesn't go away in the next week or so the only real way to get rid of it is to tattoo over it with a larger design. Sorry to hear you had a tattooer go too deep. Blah.

Thank God i am not alone in this...my tattoo looks IDENTICAL to yours. I got a tiny fish on my wrist about 2-3 weeks ago (lost count) and since the second day, i noticed the lines themselves were not so defined. Its my first and only tatt so im new to all this and not 100% sure on how it was supposed to heal.

The tatt has healed lovely (i can live with the blurry blowout) but there is still this bluish halo around the tattoo that looks like exactly like yours...And NOBODY CAN TELL ME WHATS UP WITH THAT!

i have found websites that have contradictory solutions/diagnosis: the needle went in too deep, its bruising, it WILL go away..and of course the dreaded "its permanet....sorry."

None of the sites however offered pictures of the actual blue-like bruise, which is what u and I have...i havent gone to the parlor yet...it could be that my mind plays tricks on me and it appears to be getting lighter... or it indeed IS going away...but i will definietly keep u posted. Sorry couldnt offer a solution but hey, does a lil comfort count?

I'm guessing that 'too deep' is a relative term, ie x depth is perfectly fine on your bicep but too much on your wrist.  Is that the case?

current: 2g lobes, wrist tattoo, shoulder tattoo, matching thighs...done!

pending: a few more tattoos, but not few a years

That's my definition of 'too deep', yes.

Since skin is not a uniform depth all over your body, yes. It is easy to go too deep on certain places.

I learned a ton out of 8 posts. Thanks BAF Forums!

Also, I'm sorry to hear about your tattoo being like that.  It sucks to have something that permanent be less than perfect.

wrists are one of the easiest places to get a blowout because the skin is thin.the artists skill can also have a lot to do with it. i have one on my wrist from a not so great artist, and its blown out in a bunch of places, and i have one on my other wrist from a great artist, and its perfect. i have gotten other tattoos from the not so great artist and there is blowout in all of them. every single one. but most have been fixed. just by going over the outline itself can make a HUGE difference.

My Aunt got a tattoo on the inside of her forearm that had the blueish area around parts of it. The guy who did it said that the ink had spread some. I don't remember the reason. However, the place she got it done at also does laser tattoo removal. So, they used that and it got rid of the blueish area. Not sure if it's the same thing. Just thought I'd throw that out there.

Okay, so it's been over a month, and the bluish area is still there in full force, so......yeah, it's a blow-out.  That's been established.  So, I'm thinking I should just get it covered.  Which sucks!  I really didn't want a big tattoo on my wrist because that means I have to wear long sleeves to cover it at work.  Right now, I just wear a big watch, and it's fine, but anything bigger will require sleeves.  DAMMIT!  It's hot in Texas!!

Okay...ranting complete.  Now, I need to figure out what to cover it with!!  GRR!Angry  I got this tattoo as a tribute/reminder of my new found vegetarianism.  I wasnted something to signify becoming a vegetarian, without having vegetables and fruit on my skin!  Any ideas!!!!?????  I'm not very creative.  Thanks!!! Big Smile

You can also check into someone who does cosmetic tattooing. They could just tattoo flesh color over it.

The place that did my aunt's tattoo did the laser removal for free, since it was their mistake. Might want to look into that.

That's awesome!  I would do that, but this girl wasn't working for a tattoo place yet...she was 'building her portfolio' so she could get a job. :(  I just made a mistake...my fault.
