I am trying to convince my parents into letting me get a labret piercing. Their only concern is tooth and / or gum erosion.

I was just wondering if the fine people of BAF could share some health information on labret. Some of the potential problems and way to prevent them.

*It will be on the side of my lip, which according to my piercer is less likely to cause irritation vs the middle due to the skin not being a flush against the teeth.

 bioplast labrets (autoclavable) or any safe flexible labrets solve the gum eroision problem. I once saw a metal labret with a medical rubber backing designed to solve this problem over @ tribalectic's site, but I haven't visited that site since they updated....

Had a center labret and still has some light gum erosion
