    Best choice for septum?

    Well it's been almost 4months since I got my septum done. Was wondering if it'd be ok to change jewelry yet? I'm definitely a little tired of my retainer, especially since one side/leg is very noticeably longer, making it look crooked -_-;

    So I just wanted some opinions on what style jewelry would be best suited for a semi-new septum. I really love the look of pinchers & CBRs (though I think I'd have difficulty opening/closing those?)

    Also which material, glass seems interesting but how is it as far as comfort? o_o; Or should I just stick with steel? ..I guess I always worry about infections/allergic reactions, ermm. I was eyeing these, I guess it's not possible to get black in 14g? :<

    Might as well ask this here too.. I've been considering stretching, but I was nervous about the whole 'drooping' septum thing. At what gauge does that become a problem? If I did stretch I don't think I'd ever go bigger than 8g-6g. And I've read it's best to wait like 6months (for lobes anyways) before stretching. Is it the same time-frame for septum too?

    Lots of questions, any advice is appreciated~.

    Re: Best choice for septum?

    Glass was comfortable for me, but if you want something visible, it wasn't the greatest for me. That's my septum in the picture. I had both glass and niobium for my healing phase, and I found them equally comfortable. I love my Tawapa bone pincher, but I wouldn't buy one unless you are well healed, they tend to vary slightly in size.

    I only buy CBRs to size my septum, and figure out which diameter I like best, because I have to change my jewelry for work so often that I find the beads to be a hassle. Pinchers are my favorite, because they can slip in and out easily, and don't require anything to stay in. CBBs are nice too, because I can just unscrew one end.

    I had mine pierced at 14g, and it's stretched to 8g currently. It stretched from 14g-6g very easily, almost on it's own with enough time and patience. Septum droop is relative, it really all depends on your anatomy, so it's something you are going to have to watch for yourself. I do not believe I have experienced it yet; I wear a bullet retainer almost daily.

    Ah really, is that you? :O It looks so tiny and cute! I really want to get it, just to replace my silly retainer, it would be perfect for when I have work.

    Hmm, that's also what I wasn't sure about.. What do you measure to see which diameter is right, the width of your nose?? O_o; lol.

     So you don't have to wear o-rings with pinchers?

    I see, just another risk of stretching.. good to know.

    Re: Best choice for septum?

    The right diameter for me is one that doesn't look ridiculously big on me, so I think it's better if you can get a couple of cheap cbrs or what not and try them on. For me, my jewelry of choice is a titanium cbb because I like how they look and I don't get septum funk with it. :D

    As far as wearing the o-rings on pinchers, I personally wear them because it gives me peace of mind, but you can run a trial and figure out what's best for you.
