question about gluing stuff onto plugs ^_^

So. I'm sixteen (as of April 30th), and I figure it's time I get an actual job, because I'm sick of washing dishes and getting my face burned off each time I open that 200 degree industrial dishwasher, even if it is $8.50 per hour. XD

But I do live in a very conservative town, and not many places are that open to modded people (except this cafe I go to sometimes...but they're not hiring, poo). But I'm not really worried about my septum (I've got a handy dandy retainer), it's more my ears. I don't want to just get hiders...because my earlobes would probably still look unnaturally large, I really want to get some seconds plugs and maybe superglue some large-ish buttons to the fronts.

My question is: has anyone done this before? What's the best material to use as a plug? My guess would be glass since glue might just fall off silicone because it's flexy(?), and steel's probably too smooth, but I dunno.

    9/16" L&R lobes, 14g L&R lobes, 16g left helix, 12g right industrial, 10g septum(FINALLY), and 14g inverse navel (healing).

Piercing I want for my 18th birthday: My nipples!

I'm Eva. I'm 16, and amazing at baritone saxophone. And I will be amazing at drums, piano, and brass. Eventually =P. I'm pretty silly, but pretty cool.
    That's me! ^_^

i would think acrylic but i dont know what glue is safe.

but dont try to hide your lobes, be honest with your potencial employer. i was hired with 00g at a high end shoe store, and my coworkers and boss are always curious and a little grossed out by what i wear. but they have embraced it. (conservative town)

Mm, I was thinking maybe acrylic too, but wearing it kind of grosses me out lol. Maybe I'll just have to experiment.

And oops, I should've included this in my post, I would tell my possible employer. I just kind of assumed that nobody would want their customers seeing that, seeing as I get it from business owners as a dishwasher. I work at an adult piano camp, a bunch of rich farts with nothing better to do with their money come and live where I work for a week and play piano and I wash their dishes. A lot of them are pretty successful small business owners, and they're always saying stuff like, "My God, if one of my employees got that big safety pin that you have in your ear they'd be out of my store in no time flat." The "safety pin" being my industrial.

Have you tried colorfronts? The look a lot like big buttons. :)

Just be sure that none of the glue comes into contact with a surface that will touch your ear.

Of course! I love colorfronts, but I'm fixated on actually having buttons. Because with colorfronts I'm afraid of people getting close to my ears and going "Oh, are those button earrings? They're so adorable..." and then see that they're plugs and get grossed out or something.

although i dont live in a conservative TOWN, i work for a conservative company.  the dress code strictly says "two piercings in each ear for women, one in eachear for men. gauges must be no larger than 00"  yes, gauges.  anyways, i currently sit at 5/8" and all of my managers, and one of the VPs (the other VP isnt around much :p) are ok with it, because i was open about it, i dont flaunt it, and i wear solids.  generally i wear colorfronts because they can look like those big earrings that have come into style lately, or gasp cheap acrylic solids.  i also love my horn plugs with bone lotus inlaid ( http://www.bodyartforms.com/productdetails.asp?ProductID=3172 ).  i've gotten compliments from managers, and the VP on quite a few plugs.

so i think its very mature of you to inform your employer, especially if you are considering stretching to larger sizes.  most employers will make a compromise with you, as long as you can do your job without being a distraction (which is what a lot of the higher up execs think "gauges" are) and being considerate.

I've glued stuff on to acrylic plugs, wood plugs and horn plugs so far. Things I have glued on to them include old clip on earrings (metal), stone and mother of pearl. I use super glue to glue all my stuff.

Honestly, I've never had a problem when I use gem-front plugs. I get loads of compliments from the sweater-sets when I wear my CZ blings. Also, you can get hider plugs and "pierce" them with standard earrings. That way you can just have one set of plugs with no adhesives, and interchange multiple pairs of earrings.

=/ The problem with gem fronts is that I can never find any in my price range, or else they're sold out or something. I've really wanted the hollow-back economy blings for awhile...but they never seem to be in stock. The solid steel gem plugs wouldn't work because my lobes are skinny and can't handle much weight. And yeah..Anatometal and Reign and stuff like that are waaaaay out of my price range.

If you can point me to another site that has reasonably-priced gem plugs (or is that against board rules or something...? I dunno), I'd appreciate it =D

Re: question about gluing stuff onto plugs ^_^

Instead of gluing a button on the front, you could just get a solid silicone (hider?) plug and sew the button right onto it.  I don't see any reason why it shouldn't work since you can pierce them.

    Have: 0g lobes
Want: Right Conch 12g possibly larger, Left Industrial 10g, Septum 12g, many tattoos, and possibly other piercings in my ears.

I've superglued some flat turquoise stone beads onto plain, single-flared steel plugs and worn them to my prom because I was waiting on the GG ocean blue plugs to come in my size, and by the time they did it was too late. :P

But there was no problem, they turned out great. Just wait a few days after gluing to actually wear the plugs, just in case.
