So I have been thinking about getting one of them for my 8g lobe that does not seem to want to go bigger on it's own.. Anyone know how much they weigh? It does not say on the page sadly ( http://www.bodyartforms.com/productdetails.asp?jewelry=weight&ProductID=2916&index=13 ) so I'm not sure if they are really going to do any good or not for me..

Any advice on them? I hate to buy one only to find it's not very heavy and not be usful to me.

wearing weights to stretch isn't really the best idea, and at smaller sizes you're more likely to get that earlobe slit sort of look. your best bet would just be to stay at the size you're at for another month or two and maybe try taping after that, its the safest way to go, especially since you are pregnant so your body is functioning differently than normal.

Re: BAF's Padlock ear weights?

Try taping when the time comes to stretch.

Re: BAF's Padlock ear weights?

bluebananaeater:

Just an FYI and this might be your issues, I read in another thread that you're pregnant... Let your body deal with that and avoid altering or getting any mods until well after you're had the baby. You're body and will be going through a lot of hormonal and other changes which is stressful so adding more stress is a bad idea...

Thanks for the sound advice on that. But don't worry I'm not planning on trying again until after the baby is born.

The last time I tried to go up I was not prego, That happened the next month. =)

Re: BAF's Padlock ear weights?

Just an FYI and this might be your issues, I read in another thread that you're pregnant...
how long have you been at 8g?

It has been 8g since Oct of last year.. kinda.. I Had tried to go to a 6g but it was not happy about it and got inflamed as all hell when I tried to. At that point they had been at an 8g for about 6+ months. I ended up not having any real long term probs after I went back to the 8g after 6 just did not work out. It seemed I had just nickd the edge of my hole and that was the thing that ended up getting inflamed. (On the outside part, not the hole itself) But even then trying to go to 6g was awful hard and I had worked on it for weeks before hand with lots of oil rubs and made sure it was as happy as can be before I tried.

I really was not planning on going very big with my lobe, I just wanted to get up to a 4g and call it good. So this is not something I was planning to try past getting to 4g.

Re: BAF's Padlock ear weights?

ive had these on my wishlist for awhile - even tho now i dont really need them...

i CAN tell you about my experience with wanting to stretch by 'weighting' my earrings... in particular, somewhere around 10g i think - i hit a mini plateau (and in all fairness i should have waited longer - hence the previous poster asking how long youve been at this gauge). i was too addicted to 'getting larger' so i did not wait it out - and so i did the following...

take a regular cbr that you have in your earlobe piercing - and then just add some OTHER cbrs on the hoop... i could add as much or as little as i wanted - and it also had the benefit of being all 'jingly' - which i enjoyed... basically - if you are not too concerned about what you look like in public (or are not going to be out in public anyway), then there are all sorts of creative ways to 'add weight'... paperclips or safety-pins or twist-ties - can all be used to 'attach' other items to dangle some more weight below the piercing - which _I_ tended to have a 5/8 or 3/4 in ss cbr in for healing/general use...

of course, this is NOT a recommended way to do things - there are plenty of articles that say to wait it out - and give your body time to heal more... but if you are like me - and eyeing the padlocks for exactly this purpose (to weight down a simple skin-type ear lobe piercing [as opposed to something else like a cartilege stretch which is a WHOLE different animal] ), then i thought id go ahead and mention my personal experience...

good luck, h. - and if you DO get the padlocks, id love to see a photo - theyve always looked too cool to me...

Re: BAF's Padlock ear weights?

how long have you been at 8g?

BAF's Padlock ear weights?

So I have been thinking about getting one of them for my 8g lobe that does not seem to want to go bigger on it's own..
