God, what a horrible situation!  I'm sooooooo sorry!!!  

It might sound horrible, but maybe jail would be...almost good for her?  It wouldn't help her disorder, but maybe she would get clean?  Yeah, that doesn't make it any better.  I'm sorry.  That's all I can say!

 I think the same thing.. that being locked it will force her to stop drinking and keep her on her meds... but... she'll likely fly or die than go to jail.  It's just a fucked up situation. and I don't know what to do.

My heart goes out to you. I dealt with an ex who suffered from anorexia and other self distructive issues. It make you feel very helpless to stand by knowing that there is nothing you can do for a person you care about - virtual hugs to you from Ireland!

Just my two cents: jail is NOT the place for people with mental disorders.  Bipolars have a very rough time in jail and usually fall into a deep depression.  Mental Health cases can slip through the cracks of the system and it fails them.  My heart goes out to you - this certainly sucks!

 I agree. I see so many people come through my work with mental health issues... They state on their probation sign up sheets that they have mental health isues, but are never evaulated... And then if they mess up they're put back in jail... only to end up back in my office a few weeks later... Its really sad to watch happen over and over again... She needs to have a mental health evaluation and someone needs to figure out the best course of treatment for her... Youre a good friend for wanting to help her! 

She has to be willing to have the assessment happen and I fear the only way it will is if it's forceable.  Luckily, I think the county she is in has pretty good services.  She's asked to spend the day with me tomorrow; so I am clearing my calendar.  She tends to feel safe and stable around me.  It will be good to see her.

You are right, jail is not a good place for her.. but out here isn't either. Anyone know any good resources for information on forceable hospitalization for mental health issues?

Ann, I love this girl.  It started out diggin her because she's hot and moved towards a deep caring for her because she's a great person with a huge pile of issues and few friends capable of helping her.

 Speaking of the FDA, as of september 22, 2009 clove cigarettes will be banned as well as any other flavored cigarettes. According to the FDA flavored cigarettes are harmful and encourage young people to smoke (not in so few words but i cant remember exactly what it said). Now while this doesn't effect me it makes me angry because the government is just sticking one toe in at a time and before we know it all cigarettes will be banned. Of course that would be good for wallets and lungs alike but its like the new and improved prohibition.

 The ban on flavored cigarettes also pisses me off. :/ I don't smoke, and don't plan to, but it's someone's right to smoke a flavored cigarette if they damn well please. If they're not blowing their smoke directly in my face, I really couldn't care less if someone smokes.

 that is a sad piece of news for someone who loves flavored cigarettes.

 thats what im saying. cloves and the sort make me want to trow up if i smoke them but i have friends who love them. not to mention i know someone who owns a tobacco shop that carries alot of specialty cigarettes and he will be losing money because of this too.

Miss Face, that is the same thing i said, i turned to my friend who was working is said tobacco shop and was like "what about blunts" he explained that they are technically a cigar so they probably would ban those because young people dont smoke cigars. i came back with the argument that they use all those flavored blunts for smoking weed and stuff.

i wonder if black and mild rollies count under this.

 Last night my bf's apartment was broken in to and his HP laptop was stolen. Thing is, thats ALL they took. The Xbox360, PS3, big flat screen tv, and his two roommate's macbooks that were in the living room are still there but his HP laptop and charger were gone from his bedroom when the door was closed when he left. I hate people that steal things, who the hell does that?

Thanks all for the hugs and support.  I was supposed to be hanging with T.Rubble today but have not heard from her.  I am a little worried but also think she likely has had some drama with her GF (like maybe figuring out that we had talked or blabbing about our affair). Shrug. I'll continue to pray for both of them but am about to put serious distance between us.  I talked to T.Rubble's good friend (an acquaintance of mine) and she gave me the lowdown on their codependent, dramatic relationship. She called them Lesbian Sid and Nancy.  I want to help but don't want or need to get caught up in a bunch of shit.  Heart's still breaking...but I have shit to do.

On a break from school for the next couple of weeks.  Heading home to spend a few days with my mom with a weekend stopover in CT to connect with the ScrabbleMILF.  Focusing my energies on getting ready for my road trip.

I got a letter in the mail yesterday from People To People Student Ambassadors saying that I was chosen to go to Japan in the summer of 2010. I'm not exactly sure if it's a scam or not... I kinda hope it's legit, it would be amazing to go to Japan.
