    How long?

I am planning on getting my bridge pierced today. I know it is not safe to heal with acrylic but how long is needed to switch to acrylic balls for the end of the barbell? I have work intwo days and I am sure they would like it is I could switch them to clear balls or just remove them all together and just leave the actual bar in.

    Advice / suggestions?

To be safe, you should wait until the end of the initial healing period, which is probably several weeks.  I think you already know this.

Anytime you touch, change, or mess with a fresh piercing you run the risk of trauma to it or infection.  Acrylic can't be sterilized, so you would be putting messing around putting unclean jewelry on a fresh wound.  Your anatomy can be a factor, too--i.e., do the balls touch the face or sit flush against the flesh tunnel.

If your job situation means you must take these risks, so be it, but it's not ideal for healing your piercing.

ETA:  The Piercing Bible says bridges take 4 to 6 months or longer for full healing.  I've never had an erl (or a duke, or a . .  .) but this seems to indicate it's one of the slower healing piercings, so I'd minimize jewelry changes as much as possible during this period.  Maybe you can find some dental acrylic hide'em balls that would fit your barbell that could be sterlized.

I disagree. As long as the acrylic is not in contact with the piercing (and it shouldn't be, because the bar should be plenty long to accommodate swelling) I think you're fine to change the balls much sooner. I would personally wait for some superficial healing to occur, maybe a week or two...other opinions?

i think as long as the actual barbell isnt acrylic, it cant be too bad. maybe ask your piercer to put those balls on initially so that you wont have to mess with it? i definitely dont recommend wearing the jewelry without any balls however.

Imo, it depends on how sensitive your skin is. I can't wear acrylic in or on my piercings. I have tried acrylic balls on my vert labret and my navel, and if i leave them on for more than a day my skin get piiiiiiiissed.

bars slide around a whole helluva lot.

get a bar with at least stainless steel balls. and shorter. really.
