    Labret prob...

Hey guys... Got my labret yesterday and today it's nesting nicely...perhaps too nicely...the edges are just verging on tipping over the edge if the disc...my question is how much damage or problems can occur in say 16 hours...which would be the earliest I could go somewhere tomorrow to get a longer bar...I just took two ibuprofen to help with the swelling and will monitor constantly but otherwise will I have to or should I take it out? I have a couple BCRs here of the right gauge but I'd really rather not change it myself being so fresh...

Drink so many milkshakes and slushees. My piercer told me that oral piercings are a good excuse to eat loads of ice cream. Or get yourself some tasty popsicles...and FEAST!

Thanks guys...seem to have made it through the night without it getting any worse...and gonna go get it looked at this morning but I think it may JUST be ok. Swelling seems down a little so hopefully won't need to change it yet.

Sorry to revive this thread...PTFE tape on my labret disc, if I can manage the logistics of getting it on this thing is in my mouth is that safe on a fresh oral piercing? Will it disintegrate with saliva? And will it provide any cushioning? Sorry, never played with the stuff before...

Im not sure its a good idea on such a fresh piercing... If the jewelry is still to tight you really need to have it changed out... You lip will be swelling on and off for a bit, you dont want to cause any more problems...

    Re: Labret prob...

Sorry, I should have been more clear...my problem now is a little different, bar length is fitting okay for my still swollen lip but it's creating a nice little abscess where the bottom of the disc rubs at the webbing between my lip and my bottom gums.  My swelling has gone down some but not -much- and so I'm thinking I'm facing another week still before I can get the bar downsized and just looking to create as much comfort as possible for that time.  So I was wondering whether the PTFE was safe and it seems not, so I guess I'll just grow some balls and tough it out :D

While I'm at it, do you think it's wise/safe/possible to cut/sand/file part of the disc of a bioplast labret bar?  I'd be trying to get more semicircle type shape, with rounded corners.  I'd imagine I'd have to get the edges really nice and smooth but is that going to mess with the safetyness of the bioplast?
