    Scar tissue.

Ok I got a few questions about it..

I had my ears pierced back in Dec. of last year.. A month later I stretched up to a 10gauge.. then a month later I skipped and went to a 6guage. (not a good idea I know) But after my ears got sore after I stretched them to a 6gauge. I down sized back to a 14gauge sometime in April, let my ears heal till Oct, then started again. I stretched up to a 12 didn't have any problems didn't hurt at all.. Then this month I stretched up to a 10.. But I noticed back when I was till a 14gauge, I had this scar tissue knot on my right ear, above the ring. Stretching hasn't been a problem but, I was wondering what could I do to get rid of it?

I've been massaging my lobes hoping to breakdown the scar tissue but it's just not seeming to work.

Any help would be great :)

    current piercings:

    Labret: 10Gauge
    Ears: both 8Gauge

Wait, you stretched to 10g a month after being pierced? Am I reading that correctly? Ouch. I'd say go naked but your piercings aren't even a year old... The massages do take a while to work, but they do work. I had major scar tissue in my right lobe from having it scalpelled as a kid (piercing gun accident) and I massaged it all away. It took about a year.

Yeah I did but, I sized back down to a 14gauge after I studied up on it, asked a few people on here, and they told me I needed to downsize, So I did. Let my ears heal and then started again. But I have some scar tissue build up and would like to know how to get rid of it :P I would like to have it dermel punched out but, i've not got that kind of money.

Well the dermal punch is an idea, but the massages really do work. It only took me so long because I had so much. I think if you hold off on stretching for a while and massage every day you can get rid of it. Oh, and it was a blend of emu oil and sweet almond oil (just cause it smells nice Smile) that I used.

Ok thanks :D I'll try the messages. I've been doing them and it looks like the scar tissue has went away a little compared to what it was :D

sounds like you're rushing yourself too much, give it time.

massage your lobe with emu oil (i hear vitamin E oil works great too, but sticky), and take your time stretching!

I'm taking my time.. It says on here that between 14 and 12 you're supposed to wait a month. Between 12 and 10 you're supposed to wait 1.5 months.. which I did :) So i'm not rushing myself :P But my goal size, as of right now is to get back to a 6guage the right way..

But those kinds of advice are not rigid time frames, it comes down to the individual's healing process. As an example of your scar tissue problem, it could be that your body is more sensitive and perhaps waiting a month like that person is not enough.

True, but the only time I got the scar tissue was when I took my 6gauges out and put my 14's back in.. I could take my 6gauges out and feel of my ear and I wouldn't have any scar tissue, then all ofa sudden, I see this big knot of scar tissue built at the top of the ring..It was weird.

    Re: Scar tissue.

Kinda sounds what happened to me. I was uneducated about stretching the right way, so back in early '08 I went from a standard earlobe piercing to a 10g in a week. It wasn't too bad, but when I got excited and tried to put an 8g in there, I cried they hurt so bad afterwards. They were red and swollen, so I took them out and decided to let them heal. Not only that, but the piercings were not even.

Recently, I went to my local tattoo/piercing shop and I just told him to pierce it at a 10g. I had a lot of scar tissue in my ears. It wasn't too painful, but not pleasant. About 2 weeks later I went back to the shop and let him look them over, he said I was ready to stretch again if I chose. So I purchased 8g titanium plugs, they slipped right in. After about a month of them, I stretched to a 6g, and that's where I am at right now. No problems. :)

But keep in mind, my ear lobes are very stretchy and I know how my body heals. It all depends on each person.

    Re: Scar tissue.

dood i dont meet to sound rude or anything. but, unless you are willing to take the right time, not skip guages and be patient, take out your jewelry, let them close, and never think of stretching again. ever.

stretching is a serious and permanent thing to do to your body, show it some respect and do it properly. will you happer with shitty looking stretched ears in a few months, or in a few years be proud of your healthy lobes?

Downsize to 16G. wait atleast 6 months, and do massages daily with emu or jojoba, and reassess how your lobes are then.

    Re: Scar tissue.

Is everyone who replies to this post not reading it all the way through? The guy said he stretched wrong, but then goes on to say that he *took them out, downsized to a 14g, waited 5 months for it to heal, and is now stretching properly.* Yet everyone posts telling him to do what he already did and lecturing him on what he already knows he did wrong instead of giving him advice on what he's asking for. He knows he messed up, now he's working on fixing the problem. So lets cut back on the negativity, ok?

Thank you, Bedlam.  Yes, Joshua, you did sound rude.  He skipped sizes almost a year ago, and has since been trying to fix it.  Read his original post again.

OP, so you just stretched a few days ago, then?  (You said, "this month" on 11/4)  Wait a few weeks, then I think all you need to do is start massaging!  If it doesn't go away after a few months, THEN talk to your piercer about a punch...

Don't listen. Don't hear them. They're in this together.

And thanks to Bedlam and Wissabo for clearing things up..

I really don't have a piercer :p My piercer that did all my peircings went out of business.. So i'm gonna try to find another.

As Ive said a bazillion times before, the drive to the city is WELL worth it! From my experience most of the randomly placed shops are shady and gross, since all you need in the state of GA to open a piercing or tattoo shop is a buisness license!

    Im just that awesome!
