Changing jewelery in 2 month old nostril piercing with bump

I'd like to see what everyone's thoughts are on this. My left nostril piercing is 2 months old, and has a bump on it after being seriously knocked in the face by my son. I'm doing the SSS 2-3x/day with chamomile, and it's gotten a lot better, but not completely gone. After the bump first appeared, the piercer took my nose screw (stainless steel) out and rebent it to account for the swelling. I've gone back and asked that it be bent again so that it fits tighter now that the bump is much much better, but he doesn't want to just yet. The nose screw is very loose and it moves around easily, thus I think perpetuating the bump.

I have ordered a 1/4" NeoMetal Threadless Labret, but it is 18g. The piece currently in is 20g. I didn't really want to go up a size, but there's very little in 20g available, and no Neometal labrets.

I wanted to ask here to get an idea of whether it is a good idea or not to make this change, to a bigger size, when I already have a bump. The screw is aggravating me, and I'm wondering if titanium would help it.

    Thoughts?

Bad idea... If the bumb is bothering you that much go get a second opnion and make sure the piercer you talk to knows all the details, or go back to your piercer and let them know how the bump is reacting to whats going on...

    Im just that awesome!

It's not bothering me physically, meaning it's not sore or oozing or anything.  I just want it to completely go away and it's not, and I'm wondering if it's because 1.) the nose screw is stainless steel and 2.) the nose screw is big and it's moving all around.  I'll see if I can get a good pic of the bump.

A jewelry change on a pissed off piercing would likely only irritate it further, but it's also quite possible that not having the jewelry changed will only prolong the issue. I think that stretching it is for sure a bad idea, but you may want to get a second opinion about a jewelry change of the same gauge. Also, how are you doing sea salt soaks and chamomile? One and then the other, alternating, etc?

I alternate between the sea salt soaks and the chamomile, usually morning and night are sea salt, lunch time is chamomile.

Any suggestions on a 20g titanium labret?  I can't find one anywhere!

I'm not seeing any either. Out of curiousity what made you decide to get it pierced at 20g, rather than 18g or 16g?

The shop I went to said that was their standard size for a nostril piercing so I went with it.

you might be over using the salt soaks. I got a bump similar to yours and started doing chamomile soaks once or twice a day, no SS and that cleared it up perfectly. I was pierced at 20g and am still there; for some people stretching (once healed) to a larger size helps a lot but I haven't needed to (though I may just so I too can play with neometal threadless ends). I think it really comes down to it you feel your current jewelry is aggravating your piercing; if you feel it is, I'd recommend a titanium straight nosescrew in 20g and have your piercer custom-bend it for you. keep in mind it can take over 6 months to heal a nostril piercing, but I think that, if you're careful and there's a good reason for it, changing the jewelry at 2 months can be okay (keep in mind this is just my opinion, based on healing a single nostril piercing and everyone's body is different).

also, and I have no idea if this would actually help or not but for some reason I feel that either a half-dome or a flat disk nose screw might help? I love my half-dome since it looks like a ball but doesn't sink into my skin and cause irritations the way all my ball nose screws have. just a thought : )
