In my left ear i have an acrylic plug. and in my right i have a metal tunnel. oh the unmatchingness ): and no  i don't have cat butt. my ears are pretty healthy. other than the smell.  

my ears. smell pretty bad. like, i clean them every other day and wash them when i'm in the shower(not taking the pug out). is there a specific reason they smell, or do i just need to clean them more often?

What material is your jewelry?  I usually shower without plugs, and just get rub shampoo on them after I lather up my hair. lol  Mine usually only smell if I don't wash them for like 3-4 days.

 What are you cleaning them with? and how?  What material are your plugs made from?  Why are you not taking them out?  Freshly stretched?  Do you have any health issues?

 Also, how fast did you stretch and do you have cat butt?

 Just take out your plugs and clean your ears and jewelry daily.  On days i sweat alot my ears smell.  typically, after 2-3 days of not removing my plugs they get funky otherwise.

take out your jewellery for a bit. air out your lobes. it helps

sleeping with your plugs out helps a lot. it gives your ears better circulation and fresh air. oil (i like stuff with a little bit of lemon oil) or lotion massages with your plugs out also help.

 Wash your ears and plugs every day, instead of every other day - and take your plugs out in the shower.

I actually like that smell. And everyone is spot on with their methods of eliminating the smell.

but if you dont have any. Just shower with them out wash the plugs in the shower and you lobes as well. then use scented lotion on the lobe make sure the lotio has V-Ebetter for your ear.

 But lobes stink regardless most of the time if you don't have organics.. in my expersience at least

The key to keeping most body parts from emitting odor is to clean them thoroughly in the shower. This means, as many people have stated, removing jewelry during the process. If you don't, you're not getting close to the source of the issue. It's also important to clean the jewelry well before insertion after you have cleaned your ears.

 well yeah my ears didn't start stinking until...around 1" aha

after that they are rank until i got some nifty Organics:P

 I need to wash mine everyday then apply an oil or else they are quite rancid smelling (especially without it the oil [yay jojoba]), with almost all materials including organics xP or after sweating or something like that. I guess after you've tried everything and if that doesn't work...hmmm... wash them :)?
