    Septum Questions

im gonna get the septum.gonna run me 50 bucks to get it with a retainer though =( ouch

one place will pierce at 12 and one at 14.? hmm i think id wanna go to 10g so i can wear earskins.

will my nose droop if i go to 10g?

how long would i have to wait to stretch from14-12 or 12g to 10g is it the standard 6 month healing  waiting period, followed by the same waits as you would use with stretching ears??

and if i wear a 10g earskin is it visible at all.???

    Re: Septum Questions

Septum droop may occur at ten gauge, though it is unlikely. For the matter concerning visibility, it all depends upon your anatomy and where your piercer places the hole. You could request placement when you go into the shop for the piercing event.

i got it done. my anatomy was kinda high. so its comletely invisible when flipped up (which I have it now).i checked it out when its down and it stops prety high almost where my nostrils open. i cant even see it when im looking up my nose. but i definetly feel it, cause i just got it done.

    Re: Septum Questions

i think a 10g earskin would just defeat the purpose. theres really no worry for droop at such a small gauge. wait 4-6 weeks between stretches though! mines still tender and i stretched it a little over a month ago.

definitely not! an earskin in the septum is the most comfortable thing there is, and with an earskin u can actually fit smaller size jewelry thru it. in my septum i couldnt fit any jewelry thru an eyelet till i got to a 0g. but with a 10g earskin, anything smaller will fit.

it wasnt until after i put in an earskin that i could do normal things again exactly like before, such as pick my nose comfortably, blowing my nose, or just basic cleaning

septum droop will probably not happen at that size.

     definitely wait till its healed

and as for stretching, at ur size, since taping will be near impossible, a LONG smooth steel taper

or even a pincher, then swap out the pincher after a few hours or so. i stretched all the way to 10g with pinchers no problem.

For the most part with my septum I was able to slip in the next size wtih no issues... Especially at smaller sizes, and as I got to 8g+ I had custom inbetween sizes made...

    Im just that awesome!

i only planning on going to 10.

so techinically i can just wait a while till i self stretch and just pop in the next size retainer or plug.

well its almost been two weeks and my septum retainer has a hard time staying fully up cause its so loose already.

so after i wait till its completely healed my dead stretch to 12g should be like cake.

but my question is after i stretch to 12g do i have to leave it in one position up or down to heal (if i use a retainer)?

Go back to your piercer and see if they can tighten the jewelry... And leave it either up or down for at least a week after a stretch so you dont irritate the compromised tissue... I use plugs to stretch with, so that I dont have to worry about it moving.

50 for a septum isn't a bad price with jewelry.  Everyone always wants to go cheap with stuff and thats when they have issues.  Get a quality peircer and quality jewelry and you'll have no problems.

I seriously doubt stretching to a 10 will make you droop.  Everyone is different of course.  I had mine peirced at a 12g and stretched to a 2g with no droop.

You'll need to wait the standard 6 month wait for the first stretch and I recommend 3-4 between each septum stretch.  Even if it feels fine just wait.  Why the rush anyway?

    Re: Septum Questions

Recently I have been thinking about getting my septum redone, I had it at 14g a couple years ago, but I was hoping to go have it done at a larger gauge this time, so I guess my question is, how large a gauge can you get pierced at ? My goal size is between 4g and 00g it all depends on how it looks and feels. Does it all depend on anatomy. I was also hoping to wear a plug or tunnel directly after being pierced, is this possible ?

    Re: Septum Questions

It will definitely depend on anatomy. Some people will develop a noticeable droop at smaller gauges than others, although this may not be a concern of yours. As long as the jewelry is in a proper material (glass, stainless steel, titanium) I don't see any reason why a plug or tunnel couldn't be used as initial jewelry.
