Long Term Tattoo Care (Other than protecting it from the sun)

I'm looking for long term treatment for my tattoo. I already know that I have to protect it from the sun. What I'm really looking for is information about preserving color although my tattoo is just black ink. I am a black person and I am concerned about maintaining a contrast between my skin color and the color of the tattoo.

So basically I am just looking for any info on preserving the color of my tattoo for example any specific lotions or vitamins that really make the color "pop" and also preserves it.

Lotion will help it look brighter by keeping the skin moisturized and sunblock to prevent sun damage is about all there is...

    Im just that awesome!

Yeah basically that's it. Anything that keeps your skin healthy will keep your tattoo healthy too.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination. [:-goldfish]

This is what I was going to write. Also, don't be afraid to go for sunscreens with really high SPFs.  I know we colored folks tend to think it's not necessary but it doesn't hurt.

I notice that dry skin really makes a tattoo look dull.  So I use cocoa butter when my skin is dry and I think that really makes my color pop.  That or A&D ointment.

in addition to the excellent suggestions already made, you could try some gentle exfoliation once in a while, to remove dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin.
