    Good New York Piercers?

Aside from the ones I have been to, that is.

I went to Venus Body Arts and did not like that they sold me white gold as titanium, only the disc was titanium in the end and my piercing angry.

I also tried Pure Body Arts, and even though I felt like it was a good place, I had massive trouble with my nape piercing going under the skin, was in contact with Brian Decker but after a while he did not write back to me anymore and I had to make the decision on my own. So I don't really want to go back. (piercing is fine now)

I'm looking for a place that is up to date, very clean and uses the latest jewelry, titanium only. Don't want to walk out with ptfe or something. And whats also hard to find is someone that places the piercing well, I have seen too many people with crooked, misplaced piercings.

Any recommendation is very welcome, I'm located in LI and would travel as far as the city, maybe upstate if not too far. Lower Orange County would be okay for an awesome place.

    Emi

Edit: Just wanted to note that I will be going in for a rook or snug.

I'm pretty sure Binghamton and Syracuse are too far, but if you ever want to go up there Dan at the Shaman's Den in Binghamton NY (www.shamansdenbodyart.com) or John Joyce at Scarab (www.scarabbodyarts.com).

Dan is fantastic and I've been going to him for years. I have never been to see John but I wouldn't hesitate.

Western NY is 6 hours from here, by car. I don't want to imagine by train ^^.

When I search I mostly google and LI piercers all got pretty bad ratings. I have been to 2 shops here and they did not even know what gauge was or that labret studs can be worn in ears.

They also give you some sort of cream for the piercing...Tongue Tied "hello infection!"

Edit: Binghampton is 3 hrs by car...but I doubt you can easily get there by train, which is what I will have to do. My husband needs the car every day. And he won't drive me there since he is anti-piercing ;)

You can't get to Bing by train as there are no passenger trains that run through there. You could probably take a bus if you wanted. Syracuse is only an hour north of Bing so that would be 4 hours. Neither of those are in western NY.

If I were you and you can't find a piercer you trust, I'd wait until you could borrow the car or take the bus up to Bing or Syracuse. Its not worth going to a bad shop and risking infection/poor jewelry/poor placement/etc.

I meant western from my point of View (Eastern LI), I know its not as far as Buffalo for example but west of the Hudson is far enough.

I might check out the Bus lines, thats an idea.

Have you looked at the shop reviews on BAF? I would think they would help a little.

"At my lemonade stand I used to give the first glass away free and charge five dollars for the second glass. The refill contained the antidote."

    16g septum
    2nd hole is 8g
    1 helix piercing both 18g.

No I haven't where do I find those?

    Jagerick:

LeRoi is another one I would suggest.

I had a look at them but what scared me was this:

    ~ Surface ~

Priced according to project. We use either 316LVM Surgical Steel or Tygon - a biocompatible, flexible tubing.

Which means they don't use titanium for such a delicate piercing. Tygon as well as the old steel surface bars have a high failure rate..Confused

Maybe I should not think about that though because I will be coming in for an ear piercing right? ( I have a rook or snug planned) Just makes me think the shop might not use titanium on that either.

But I will call a couple of places and ask them questions.

Haha the whole state is western to you then!!

I know for sure you can take like a grey hound or something back and forth from the city to Bing. I hope you can figure it out, or find a good piercer in your area!

Haha, yeah pretty much. But the local LIers explained to me that LI is the center of attention.Big Smile

Will def. see about the bus and if the trip is not too costly and give some of the NYC piercers a call.

I am pretty sure that if you want to use titanium for a new piercing that they can do that. They might just not have it listed on the website.

    Ok I will!

I checked out their page again and it says for $10 additionally you can upgrade to Titanium Jewelry. They don't have Snug or Rook listed in their pricelist though, so I will call and ask.

And as soon as I get the chance I will check out the shedules for the bus to the West, that is not really West and LI is just really East ;)
