    Best soaps?

So i have been using Dial antibacterial soap for my septum piercing, and i read that you shouldnt use it because it's a "harsh soap" -.- My septum is fine, but i would like to know what is the best soap/oil to use on my septum piercing? I actually just bought Provon(sp?) and read the reviews.

I also use H2Ocean (i think thats how you spell it)

I like Satin... but it seems there are some manufacturing issues that I guess are being fixed... or crazy chamelion, but thats out of stock... Or just plain, gentle soaps...

Dr. Bronner's!! I love that stuff, I use the eucalyptus on my ears and the lavender on my VCH. They have a lot of great, natural scents too, and you can find them at some Target stores and stores like Whole Foods.

    Oh you pretty things

    Re: Best soaps?

Ive heard AMAZING things about satin, but they are out of stock, and crazy chamelion said something about not being used on mucus(sp?) membranes idk what that means so i kind of stayed away. I bought Provon, and im wondering if it is a good soap??

Boo about Satin Sad I think it smells nicer than Provon, but Provon will do the job. I don't think you're supposed to use Dial on mucus membranes either but don't quote me on that. It just seems too harsh. I agree, Dr Bronners peppermint is nice!

Edit: Oh and mucus membranes is skin thats involved in 'absorption and secretion' according to a google search. Pretty much its the skin inside your nose, eyelids, mouth, genitals-- any internal skin, if you will.

Provon I believe is used in hospitals.

It's a pretty good soap, but it does smell strange...like a hospital.

I use Crazy Chameleon on other piercings, so I just rub what's left on my fingers into my nose for m septum piercing.

    Re: Best soaps?

I second Dr. Bronners, although I'd suggest trying the unscented version; it's the only one so far that doesn't burn my nose when I clean my septum. They come in little 2 oz bottles too, so you don't have to commit to a huge monster bottle.

    MODS: 4g lobes, 16g anti-tragus, 10g septum, three tattoos
    RETIRED MODS: 2x 16g helix, 14g helix, 18g lobe
FUTURE MODS: 2g lobe stretch (0g goal size), more ink, 4g conch, navel

I've used it on my septum before. The smell isn't too harsh as long as you water down the lather a bit, but I can see it being too strong straight for a fresh septum.

I usually recommend that you just continue to use whatever soap you are already using. Changing soaps is typically not necessary and can cause more problems than it helps.

I really like satin, hope they fix the manufacturing issues. It smells really good, and its non drying.
