Definitely don't with The Dresden Files, setting your hopes high that is. They change certain things in, some necessary some not so much. Both are good but the books are a good deal better.

    Anansi Boys by Neil Gaiman

So far it's fantastic. This is the last Gaiman adult read that I'll have until he comes out with another novel.

Kangaroo by D.H. Lawrence, I'm about a hundred pages in and am thoroughly absorbed in the story. Great stuff. Smile

Hell's bells how did I miss this thread popping back up! :P  Anyway, what book does the show go up to? I'm reading the fourth book now and I don't want to see any spoilers. I saw the first episode and thought it was pretty good considering it is a tv adaptation. I started watching the second show and saw nothing familiar so I stopped just in case it was based on a book I hadn't read yet.

As far as the Harris books, I actually liked them. They are fun and trashy, except for the last one which was much less bubbly to put it mildly. I can barely watch the show now lol. I try my best to let  the books go when I watch it, but come on in some parts the only thing the books have in common with the show are the character's names. Like they totally took the maenad thing and ran with it! I'm so glad that part is over.

Has anyone read the Lily Bard series Harris wrote? She did a cameo in one of the Sookie books so I started reading them after I was done and in Sookie withdrawal. I only read two and they seem pretty dry. The main character is a bit cold and boring for my tastes. I was just wondering if it starts to pick up any or if I should just give up on the series.

It is known that there are an infinite number of worlds, simply because there is an infinite amount of space for them. However, not every one of them is inhabited. Therefore, there must be a finite number of inhabited worlds. Any finite number divided by infinity is as near to nothing as makes no odds, so the average population of all the planets in the Universe can be said to be zero. From this it follows that the population of the whole Universe is also zero, and that any people you may meet from time to time are merely the products of a deranged imagination. [:-goldfish]

I've finished the last Sookie novel that's in paperback, and read the first Dresden book too.  So I am now out of new things to read.  I'll probably pick up a few more Dresden books, but there is no way I'm paying hardcover price for the latest Sookie book.  Has anyone read any Jonathan Maberry, author of Patient Zero?  I might pick up another of his as well.  Other suggestions anyone?  Must....find....more....zombie fiction.

Well I saw the series before I read the books I believe and I don't recall any major spoilers for the series but it's been a while since I've watched the series. The only episodes that are based of the books are Hair of the Dog and Storm Front but that's very loosely especially Hair of the Dog. Storm Front [ep 8] is based off Storm Front [that one's a little obvious] and Hair of the Dog [ep 3] is similar to Fool Moon. Though the episode Bad Blood [ep 5] has to do with Bianca as well as Storm Front though nothing to do with the book Storm Front I believe.

Is it out in a library near you? That's what I usually do with book series that are more than 3-4 books long. I haven't read much zombie, but I really liked world war z. Although it's so popular you probably already read that.
