    Bleach irritating piercing. Help?

My friend recently beached her hair and accidentally got some of it on her earlobe and now it's all irritated and painful.

She's been doing salt soaks and things but doesn't know if she should use Vit E oil or if she should keep something in to hold it open or to just let them chill with them out.

     Any ideas?

She's about to rip her earlobe off. :[

I've had this happen before to my industrial. I accidentally got some bleach in it and it got a little swollen and painful to touch.

First of all, your friend should definitely keep some good quality jewelry (no acrylic or organics) in the hole so it doesn't close up and end up with an infection inside it. The sea salt soaks should be helping. When this happened to me, I did a few sea salt soaks and used tea tree oil, which some love and some swear against it, but it works great for me. Took care of the irritation within no time at all, and soon enough my industrial was back up to par. I've never used vitamin E oil, so I can't tell you whether or not that'd be a good idea.

It'll probably take up to a week of sea salt soaks to clear the piercing free of any chemicals left behind. If the irritation and swelling continues past that, your friend should consider going to her piercer or doctor and getting it taken a look at.

I have had this happen before... but it never got really irritated. Take the jewelry out and flush, flush, flush with clean water. Keep on flushing. I would not use tea tree oil on skin that is chemically burned.

Once it's flushed well, put the jewelry back in (you may want to go with something smaller to keep the pressure off if it is swelling) ...and flush some more. (be sure the plugs/whatever don't have bleach on them before you put them back in, too.) Emu oil would probably be soothing, maybe some alo vera as well.
