I've had my piercing for about 3 months and everythin has gone well, just about 1 hour ago i notice that my lip is really swollen. So i freak out and spray bactine on the outside and put ice on the area. It hurts very little, but my lip is really really swollen, im just really concerned and want to know if i should take it out immediately or if i should clean it every so often and wait till tomorow to see if evertyhin is better?

did you bump it? SSS it for about a week and if you can, put in a longer stud or barbell.

i may have bumped it, i don't really remember. i only have a ring that i can put in place

 Have you changed the jewelry? When was the first time? How often? How tight is it? And DONT USE Bactine... 

First time i changed the jewelry was about after a month. I put a ring in place and never changed it. with a stud at the end of the labret it is kinda tight

 Maybe you got bit by a bug. 

I also forgot to mention that i went to the dentist and they did a general cleaning and x-ray. could any of the materials used irritate my piercing?

 anything can irritate a piercing.  do salt soaks and such.  a lot of mouth rinsing.  you may have gotten some plaque in your piercing.

I'm gonna agree with the whole dentist thing.  I don't have my lip pierced, but EVERYTIME I go to the dentist, my lips get really chapped and crack from having my mouth open so wide for so long...

thanx for all the replies, the swelling has gone down a little bit and i will make sure to do mouth wash and salt soak.

 Google the grossness that causes! I use Biotene, not only when Im healing, but on a regular basis...
