    Question about an industrial. Rare?

Some one very close to me got their industrial about a year and a half ago. They had healed it completely and introduced a better stainless steel and about 2 or 3 months later, without warning it began to hurt. No swelling or anything of the sort, just pain. Any recomendations like oils?  Thansk in advance everyone!

It doesn't seem like the new material had anything to do with it, if it was months later. Did the piercing get knocked or bumped particularly hard, tugged while your friend was sleeping or something?

Metal: 4g lobes, 18g right nostril, 16g(?) tragus, full set of braces

Upcoming: 2nd lobes, conch, several more

Retired: first set of 20g lobes forever ago, 16g second lobes, right ear industrial, left nostril, 14g navel (Obviously piercings don't love to stay in my body happily.)

this could be a slight possibility, but would it not show signs ofsome sort of damage?

Ive had my industrial for 4 years and it still gets angry sometimes, for what seems like no reason. Its so easy to knock one side and the whole thing just gets angry... Just tell your friend to soak it and treat it like a new piercing, and not to change the jewelry again for a while.

    Im just that awesome!

Mine's tha same as bluebananaeater. It's just notoriously fussy. Bumping or sleeping on it will piss it off. I usually don't do anything to it, maybe some sea salt or something, but it goes back to normal on its own.

They could switch the long barbell out for two short ones, or captives. It could help keep it from getting knocked around a bit.

ive often wondered about that (industrials and unknown sleeping-position possibilities)...  if i were (not planning on it) were to ever do that - it is great to 'know' that it can just kinda get 'angry' on occasion...  id prolly chalk it up to unknowingly sleeping 'funny' - but regardless, also 'knowing' that it can just be 'treated like a new piercing' and itll calm back down is also great knowledge...  heck, maybe it is in an faq somewhere...  :-)

exactly 8.25250000001mm (0g) ear lobes only... so far...

One time the ball fell off while I was sleeping, and I woke up with the barbell going through only the top hole. That got it pretty angry, lol, but that's the only time it has become angry. It also doesn't like jewelry that's too long, like wearing 1 1/2" ones when I should be wearing 1 1/4"

Sometimes it helps to put flexible jewelry in, like PTFE ofr bioplast. I've never tried using separate jewelry before.

    00g lobes
industrial, conch, helix and a bunch of other ear piercings.

My industrial is also very fussy, similar to what others have said here. Anything from sleeping to leaning on it for too long can make it tingle with sharp pains. I usually just try not to touch it and put tea tree oil on it, although I know there's a lot of controversy around tea tree oil, but it works for me.

I suggest they go back to the old material.
