It really helps, but it does not take the place of sea salt soaks.

I also found a site that relates to piercings.

i did not look at the web-links, but i have been using emu-oil for awhile...

when trying to HEAL a stretch - it is all about the sea-salt-soaks...

the emu-oil is only (imho) for lubricating the pierce so that you can get the jewelry in again (after soaking or when changing items)...  it helps/soothes a bit - but i try to use it sparingly...

as long as you are keeping the piercing clean - then a little emu-oil should be fine...  good luck.

You can use it on healing lobes. I would avoid massaging it in, since the rubbing will irritate a fresh wound. Sea salt soaks, downsizing, and patience will be your best bet if you have hurt your lobes with double flares. A few drops of emu oil definitely won't hurt. :)

It's also important to keep your lobes moisturized during the entire stretching process. Emu oil helps speed healing and helps prevents cat butt and blowouts if used with correct waiting periods. It helped my itchy, healing septum piercing.

I too really like using emu oil, it has such a rich texture that few other oils can match. I've used it to stretch and also use it to massage my healed lobes daily, although as someone else mentioned I wouldn't massage it into any open wounds (although it could still be applied). It's a great moisturizer in general and is great for dry skin anywhere, not just on ears or piercings.

I've tried emu oil on several occasions and I've come to the conclusion that it is not for me. The unpleasant consistency and odor turned me off to usage. I currently use a vitamin E cream or oil blend to moisturize my lobes, they are quite soft and supple.

Really? I've never noticed an odor, not even when using it in my nose. Now jojoba oil has an odor. I've only used the emu oil from BAF.

Yes, I've tried several bottles of emu oil from BAF that all had a displeasing scent.

I'd agree that I've never noticed an odor either, but I have heard more than a few people say that this is something that turns them off to emu oil. Maybe different batches have different smells? Also, jojoba oil shouldn't really have a strong noticeable smell, since it's often used as a "base oil" for essential oils (to make massage oils, etc). They (oils) can go bad so I would make sure what you're using isn't just old and rancid, thus causing the odor.

ive only used the semi-freebie emu-oil from baf - and oddly, i notice a scent sometimes and not at other-times...  sometimes it comes out thick, other times it is very thin...  i admit i have like 4 bottles of it and am not terribly consistent about which i use when - but now that you mention the concept of 'rancid'...  ill have to go check which is which and maybe toss the smelly and/or thin one(s)...  ive always just chalked the differences up to temperature and my nose-sensitivity for that day...

Just make sure you shake it before each use.

some bottles i've had have had more of  smell than others. to me it is not that unpleasant, and is sort of a leathery smell and i can see how some people wouldn't like that. i think its a preference thing.

i've always loved emu oil for my piercings over jojoba because of its consistancy, i feel like it absorbs into my lobes better and keeps it well moisturized longer.
