    Confused

Tonight I went and got 2 microdermals on my wrist. I was under the impression I would have 2 little post sticking up with a place for something to screw into but instead it's just a an anchor with a solid post. I didn't really notice this untill I got home and I'm kind of worrying about it, I mean how else would you put jewlery on it without it having a place to screw on to. All he told me was that I needed to let it heal for about 3 weeks to a month then come back and he would put either a ball or spikes on each of them. Please tell me I'll still be able to change out the jewlery. I would post the pic I took of it but you really can't see as they are pretty small rods sticking up.

those are just the healing posts, they are screwable ends just a special set for healing, don't worry and don't try to change the ends yet by yourself, you don't want to disrupt thier healing position, just chill out and wait till your appointmentto be pleasantly surprised..

    Re: Confused

I've never read something that made me so happy lol. I was really thinking this dude fucked my jewelry up which was disappointing since I've heard nothing but good things about him. I can efficiently wait, I'm in no rush to change them. My main concern is the aftercare and just making sure they heal up nice. I've heard you shouldn't clean them to often, only when you know you got something on there but I don't know. The apprentice gave me an aftercare paper but it said nothing about microdermals lol. I guess I'll stick with the sea salt soaks and take my H2ocean with me to work, does that sound like good enough aftercare along with cleaning every night before going to sleep?

yep like she said those are called healing posts i believe, and u most likely will not be able to change ur jewelry urself either. since it is on ur wrist, ur gonna want to support the anchor under the skin before u try twisting the top off. my piercer screwed mine on super tight and it would displaced the anchor under the skin if i tried to remove mine before he loosened it after it was healed.

and ur gonna want that the anchor is flush against ur skin, if its not by even a little it can get caught pretty damn easy. thats what happened to my wrist ones, it was perfectly fine till it first snagged really bad on my dishwasher, after that it kept getting snagged and would stick out just a bit more, till i had to get it removed

and yep the after care sounds good. i think u could actually clean it as much as u want, granted it is the salt/saline soaks

Sweet, I was hoping once it was healed the actual anchor would be flush with my skin. I'm kinda scared to sleep on it lol, don't want to wake up and it be ripped out or something. I thought of tying my hand to the ceiling fan but I don't want to lose my arm haha

i experienced the same paranoia, i slept for the first week with one of those tiny round bandaids on loosely(which i dont recommend, cause the adhesive got the area around it all red) but i heard a loose gauze works well too for that purpose, till u can overcome the thought of it getting caught

    Re: Confused

Well the guy cut little holes in bandaids and place the hole around the post and said I should sleep like that to keep it in place. I'm just a crazy sleeper guess nothing but time will tell how I treat them in my sleep. I feel a little better seeing somebody else had the same feelings I'm having, makes it a little easier to think about knowing you turned out fine.

I pesonally HATE the healing posts and think they are horrible. I use disks initially as they get hit/caught/etc a LOT less.
