First time stretching led to BLEEDING

    First time stretching led to BLEEDING

     Hey guys,

     My ears are originally pierced at 18ga so i started with 16ga glass tapers. When i first put them in there was very little pain and they went in fairly easy without lube.

     The next day i took them out to clean them and noticed some blood on them as i was taking them out. I immediatly, after cleaning my ears, switched back to 18ga. What is my next step?  THANKS!

    good that you downsized back.. make sure you do SSS for a while. Don't stretch again until the lobes are fully healed, so at least 4 months, preferably 6. 

    Were you pierced at 18g? How long have you been at 18g?

     whats SSS? my ears were at 18ga for about 2 years if not longer. Is 4-6 months really necessary?

    Are you sure the taper(s) were actually 16g?

    You really shouldnt wear tapers as jewelry... they are too long and get caught/knocked around way too easily, which could of been why they were bleeding.

     BTW it wasnt gushing out blood or anything. There was very little blood.

    No matter the quantity, blood is a very bad sign when stretching.

    Wait, you didn't use lube?  Maybe the tapers 'stuck' to your ears a little and rubbed them raw?  Make sure you slather that taper with lube next time... :-D  Good luck!

    I like it a lot because...because it pisses you off!

     Where exactly did you get GLASS tapers? At such a small size its possible the gauge was off and that was what caused the trauma. Definitely soak them and wait for them to fully heal before you attempt to stretch again and ALWAYS use lube.

    Will knit/crochet for pretties. Seriously, try me. I like shiny ^.^
