Hmm [^o)] Wood Jewelry? Whats safe?

    Hey everyone,

I'm a pretty crafty guy and i cant find the kind of septum tusks I want online so i thought i would try and make some out of wood. The first things that i thought of was that the wood would need to be a find hardwood and i would need to sand the crap out of it so i don't get splinters up my nose. The second thing i thought was that i might need to use some sort of oil or something to seal it up..

Has anybody done this? does anybody know what kind of woods are cool and what i need to use on the jewelry after I'm don so i can slip it in my nose?

    Thanks.

i would stick to something cheap and safe for now (sabo, ebony).  if you have doubt about a woods safety in the body, you can look it up online.  avoid tulip wood for sure though!

also, make sure you sand it with fine grit, then raise the grain with water, and sand that down.  a lot of people seal wood in beeswax, or jojoba or coconut.

you will want to oil the wood regularly, both when wearing it and when not, because the wood can get grabby and split when dry.

I just came by to kill you, nobody was home...
