So I got a tattoo of some cherry blossoms on the inner arch of my foot back in December. The tattoo artist at the time failed to mention that the ink might not stick very well. Anyway, after my second onion peel I was left with a tattoo that was majorly faded and just not all that great. I know that because it is tougher skin, it wont last as long, but this had been only about 2-3 weeks tops. I'm going to get it redone by the same guy but is there something that can be done in the tattooing process that will help the ink stick better. I almost feel like it just didnt penetrate deep enough into my skin.

Any information, tips or tricks you have to make it look better is very much appreciated. Thank you.

 Nope, Surely if there was something to keep ink in troubled parts of your body, your artist would know and tell you.

I want to add that you should have done more research on tattoos in that area, and researched artists that have had maybe a bit of luck with tattoos in areas that dont like to hold ink. But if the ink just wont hold, then you might totally be out of luck... 

shoulda woulda coulda. makes no difference now the research I did or did not do. It was a rather spur of the moment idea I had while my friend was getting tattooed. I was simply looking for a little bit of info on what to do now, not what I should have done before.  

What you should do now is some research.  Find out if there are artists with experience making these types of tattoos last.  Maybe the idea of going back to the same artist who has already failed is another bad and rushed decision.

Feet are tricky.  A girlfriend of mine has a little tattoo of grass and a butterfly on her big toe.  She got it filled in once, and like 2 weeks later, the color was COMPETELY gone. Back to plain black and white.  How does the outline of yours look?  You may just have to leave it colorless and be happy with what you've ended up with.

Plus everyone is different. I have had no problems with my feet but my wrist has faded alot, even though the artist was kosher. Maybe give it another go at a touch up, with a differnt artist, and after that accept it. All tattoos have a certain significance, even the crappy ones. Also the suggestion about exfoliating sounds good> I know my feet get like lizard scales!
