    Dead skin inside my lobe?

I can't find any information about this... I'm a bit worried. I have had my second lobe pierced for 10 months. I began with a 14g, and slowly stretched up to an 8. I waited all the recommended times for each stretch. It has been at a 8g for at least two months. It healed nicely, and I never seemed to have any issues with it.

Well, I recently bought some earskins. I didn't have issues putting them in at first. However, my work has issues with me wearing jewelry at work, so I took them out for work. When putting them back in the first night, it was a bit tougher. I had to struggle with them for about an hour before I could get the pair in. My lobes felt warm and slightly tender, but they were not swollen or bleeding, and I thought all was fine.

Fast forward two days of constant wear. I took one out for my shift today, but only my right. I popped it out without taking much care, but nothing felt amiss. After, though, it felt as if the inside of the hole was hard, and I could feel a bit of something poking out. I thought it was just some collected... ear cheese, if you will. I attempted to clean it, but it wasn't budging. This is the point I thought something could be wrong, but I couldn't do anything until I got home.

Well, when I arrived home, I rushed to the mirror, washed up, and I checked out my ear. It was definitely something poking out. I pushed it forward gently, grabbed it with some clean tweezers, and... Some dead skin flaked off? It didn't hurt at all, and I checked out my ear after. It doesn't look like the fistula, as the inside of the piercing looks perfectly healthy, and I've never had a bad reaction to wearing silicone before. What could this possible be? I have no idea, and I'm not sure whether I should be concerned and baby it, or whether the silicone is okay for me to be wearing... Opinions?

Are you oiling up the earskins when you insert/remove them?  Since the silicone sticks a little bit, it can irritate your lobes when you pull them out without any lube to help them along.

How long are you going without jewelry?  Maybe your lobes are shrinking up during that time, which will make it more difficult to reinsert your jewelry.  That could also explain why your lobes were a little bit irritated when you put the earskins back in (it's essentially like restretching using silicone, which is not recommended).  If this is the case, you could try reinserting some other plugs and then putting the earskins in after your lobes readjust.

if your ears were a little mad at you after putting them in, then it's probably just that. :] and yes, it was probably dead skin. [ and yes, you could be having a reaction between the bothering of your lobes and the silicone. ] i have noticed that my new ear skins tend to itch a little bit unless i coat my ears with oil first. :/ like more oil than usual.  [ and i have fully healed lobes. ] skin is so fickle with silicone.

we can develop allergies at any time, to anything, really. if youve been using silicone in the past your body *might..*might!* not like it anymore. it could get worse, so i wouldnt push the issue and just wear some different plugs for the time being. just give them a break, and next time you use the skins, oil them a lot more. it helped me.

    beep beep!

1/2" lobes, 6g conches, septum, monroe, tongue, "snakebites" [ or whatever you kids are calling them these days. ] 8 tattoos so far, although seven of them will be blended together eventually. wishing for more.
