    finally at 4g!

And it's amazing what I had to do to get there!

I made a post a while back about how I had planned on taping halfway there, then using my taper to get me the rest of the way.  Well, around the first of this month, I wrapped a layer of PTFE around my 6g single flare glass eyelets.  I oiled them really well with jojoba, and slid them back into my ears.  Two days passed, and all was well.  Then, I woke up one morning with one naked lobe.  I see that the plug had fallen onto my pillow... and the tape was gone.  I look in the mirror and see that my lobe has eaten the tape... it had shrunken rather tiny, and a wad of PTFE was wedged inside.  After a quick massage, I pushed my eyelet back in, which forced the tape out.  I un-taped the other plug, and decided to give up on the idea.  My ears were pretty dried out after just a few days with tape anyway.

I then got on BAF with the intent of ordering one of those really nice IS tapers, instead of using my acrylic one that didn't look so gradual.  However, I got a message from a friend [who was doing quite well at 3/4"] who said not to give up on the taper I already had.  She told me to try to insert it gently, and if it didn't go through, then order a better one.  I decided to follow her advice... after all, she spent three years working up to 3/4" and used mostly the basic acrylic tapers.

So just yesterday, I decided to stretch.  I laid out my taper, my no-flare pyrex plugs, my jojoba, and some personal lube [I like to combine it with jojoba for optimal slippery-ness].  I gave my lobes a quick massage, and attempted to push the taper through the left one first.  I felt that familiar slight sting, and looked into the mirror.  I simply could not get it past the sharp jump to 4g.  I took it out, and tried to see if the right one would cooperate more [my left ear is definitely the bitch one].  Same results.  So I gave up, and put the 6g plugs back in.

This afternoon, I decided to give my ears a SSS, just in case the bad taper had irritated them.  I then gave them an oil massage, and decided to hang around naked for a little while.  I was in my room looking at the 4g plugs, and longing to wear them.  Out of curiosity, I decided a dead stretch might work.  I put a bit of lube on the plugs, and pushed them in.  They went in rather smoothly, although not quite pain-free.  I experienced a sharp pinch, but no bleeding and all looks great.  They're a little bit sore, which I think was from messing with them yesterday.  It's nothing that good aftercare can't take care of though.

This stretch has made me re-evaluate my goal size a little.  I think I'd like to stay at 4g for a while; I have very tiny ears and the 4g plugs look just right for some reason.  I'm definitely not stretching again for a while, if I ever do decide to stretch to a 2g.

I may post some pics tomorrow, if anyone wants to see!

Thanks, guys!  I promised pics, so here they are:

    one ear

    the other

Yes, my ears are very tiny, and were pierced kinda low.  So tiny, that I think I'll stop at 4g.  I used the no flare pyrex plugs, which are so gorgeous in photos, I think.  These were taken the day after I stretched.  They are now a little over a week old, and doing so amazingly well.

Congrats! Your ears are so tiny they make 4G look like a 0, haha. That's a good thing, though. Big Smile I can't wait to get to a decent size like that! Or just to start stretching in general...

Have: Both nostrils, right conch, 4G lobes, left helix x2.
Want: Bigger lobes, septum, VCH, tragus, daith, and some other stuff.

I've gotta say that is about the most perfect looking ear/plug combo I have ever seen. But I still wouldn't be surprised if after a few months 2G starts to look a little bit more perfect to you. JK but gratz on the stretch and and they really do look great.

    5/8 lobes
    8g second lobe "left only"
12g labret. fairly new working VERY slowly towards 1/2 inch.

Awh, thanks!  That's really sweet ^_^  I've gotten lots of compliments on these plugs.  They're just rounded, clear glass... but when the light catches them a certain way, they look very pearly.

2g was my original goal size.  Then I decided I might try to hit 0g.  I really like this size, and I think I'll keep my ears at 4g for a long while.  I reeeeallly want to start wearing earskins!  I've heard they're brutal to get in at smaller sizes so I think 4g is a good time to start wearing those.  And I can tell that my ears have become more flexible, so maybe I can start wearing double flares too.

    Congrats for attaining your goal!

If you decide to go larger, you may want to consider downsizing entirely and having them scalpelled to redirect hole placement.

Congrats!! I hit 4g back in january.. it's a great goal size and those plugs are gorgeous. Skins are pretty easy to get in at 4g, too.

    Re: finally at 4g!

When I was at a 4g I thought my plugs were huge but like anyone else I got addicted to stretching, so now i'm at a 00 and can't wait until I can go to 7/16ths.

But congrats and they look lovely :]

    Re: finally at 4g!

Thanks for all the nice words, guys.  My friends just aren't nearly as supportive.  I've heard since I started stretching, "Uhh, you don't want those hockey puck thingies in your ears, now do you?"  Haha.

I actually am somewhat interested in scalpelling.  I've even asked a couple piercers around here, and none have done it.  Maybe in a year or two when I move somewhere cool.  My right hole is a lot closer to my face than my left one, and I've only noticed it lately.  So, I think I would need that hole redirected just ever-so-slightly.
