I am vexed that I find a large portion of my pop culture references are no longer relevant to a lot of the people I communicate with. I am not old, and I was raised by television, too, dammit. And yet I am too often met with the blank stare when I make what I think is a pretty witty (or at least a ha-ha-kooky type) reference. About a page back in this thread there was a great opportunity to make a Jackée Harry reference, but I didn't even bother. What would be the point?
Of course it goes both ways sometimes. A while back a couple of people I know were talking about the MTV VMAs, and I kind of laughed and made some sort of snarky comment like, " MTV? Are they even relevant to music anymore?!" And the people, who's conversation I had admittedly just interrupted, looked at me like I was a moron. It made me reasses my position. Because I don't think that I have watched MTV for almost a decade, and certainly not for anything music related. But I realized that perhaps I'm starting to become irrelevant.
Oh, and I've been sick for the last four days. That sucks, too.
