    Possible blowout?

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I was really just looking for an answer to this question.

I started stretching my ears around December from a 1/2" to a 3/4", and currently I'm at a 11/16" or 18mm. I have been "taping" my ears up slowly, adding one layer of tape every other week since early December. Now, I've noticed this on the back of my left ear:

Please excuse the bad quality, I used my cell phone and a desklight to even get it to show up. It just seems like a fold of skin over it, more than a blowout, but I don't want to take ANY chances. This is my first time ever seeing anything like this with my ears. My other ear has a similar fold, but it's not as prominant. When I take out the piercing the fold is hardly there... but again, I'm not sure.

Any advice/suggestions would be helpful. Thank you!

From what I can see that does in fact look like a blowout.

When taping you shouldn't be constantly stretching your ears. Stretch to the next size then wait the recommended time at each size before stretching again.

Thanks a lot! I was afraid of that so I downsized earlier on this morning, I'm trying to be as careful as possible. And I'm also going to my piercer today too, so I'll be asking him.

Well, as soon as I did get up to 5/8" I waited until my ear healed before I would go any further. Sometimes it took three weeks before I taped up again, it really mattered. I was putting every other week as a generalization. I would never stretch unless my ears looked and felt ready for it :)

I had some cut off white tapers in my ear, that's why it looks weird.  They were tapers and I sawed off the pointed end, I just put them in there because my other ones didn't show the flesh as good. I have my steel plugs in there now.

You need to be waiting months between sizes not weeks.

    Im just that awesome!

Thanks everyone for recognizing it as a blowout! Now I can take the precautions and see what my piercer says.

curious though, why did you think it was ok to tape your lobes from 1/2' to 3/4'', that's way too much stretching and far too long for you lobes to be in contact with tape.

get some plugs at each size and let your lobes get comfy at each size and let them breath.

I wasn't just using tape, I had steel plugs for when I would get up a size that had plugs for that size. 1/2", 9/16", 5/8", 11/16", etc. Just because I didn't mention I had them, doesn't mean I wasn't using them.

I'm not stupid, I always try and do the safe thing, I guess I just got a little excited and didn't wait long enough between this stretch, or a few back.

*puzzled*...not sure why you needed tape then, other than to rush to the next size.

I hope your lobe(s) get well
