    navel piercing, kind of

So I'm entertaining a thought... If I were to get a below the navel piercing (not an inverse navel) horizontally, would a surface bar or dermal anchors be better? I figure I'll have to talk to my piercer about it, but was hoping for some opinions. Also, what's the consensus on healing and rejection?

    current: 6g lobes, 16g 2nd lobes, 18g helix x2 (l), 16g rook to daith "industrial" (l), 18g tragus (r), 12g industrial (r), 18g nostril x2, 16g navel

Micros are easier to heal. Surface bars can sustain more abuse.

snowstarz - great question,... ive been pondering a collaboration of a tattoo design and a navel project and this seems to have taken the guess work out of it. although for me hadn't though of mircos, but i think a surface barbell below the navel would suit me better than two bottom navel to create the look of a "peace sign"

it'll be a while before i start in on this project, but cant wait to get started.

    thanks snowstarz and rick Smile

Rick, thanks. If I go through with it, I think I'll try to go with a surface bar since with my job, abuse occasionally occurs.

    Yogi, glad I could help.

ummmm, now im curious. i feel extremely dumbfounded, but how are surface barbells installed? i mean how can a 1/8'' post that sticks out at 90 degree's on each end, possibly go thru immediately after piercing the area.

had to ask because this is going to bug me now.haha

i'm not sure if all piercers insert jewelry the same, but when i had my surface piercings done (clavicles), my piercer used a threaded taper insert the jewelry. i can post the link to the youtube video of it if you want.

That was brutal to watch. Why the hell do piercers think it is okay to pierce with a taper? That is what he was doing in that video. Wow. Way more brutal than it needs to be.

he didn't pierce with the taper...? i'm not sure i follow what you're saying. he used a biopsy punch to do the two points, using the taper to create the pocket for the surface bar to sit in.

From point punched to point punched is being pierced with a taper. Call it whatever you want, he is either piercing with a taper or he is elevating with a taper. Either way, wrong.

could you tell me how you'd approach it? i think most of my piercer friends do surface piercings this way... and now i'm curious to see how other artists would do it.
