I've had my septum pierced (at 14g) for a couple of weeks, I had a retainer in at first but it was massively bulky and I changed it to a BCD pincher. At first I used the o-rings that came with them but they seem to me to just be big booger magnets and made it hard to clean and they were visable at certain angles. So I took them out and subsequently then someone told me that was wonky. Great. Would clear o-rings be any better? What do you guys personally prefer?

I prefer using orings. I like the security of knowing my jewelry won't randomly fall out (especially since I tend to play with it a lot). I also discovered that the silicone ones help keep my septum a bit warmer in Chicagoland winter temperatures. As for cleaning, I just take them off the pincher and wash them everyday, but that really wouldn't work with a fresh piercing.

 Ive found all oring are boogie magnets... I usually wear a plug in mine, but if I wear a pincher or something I dont usually wear orings... I can usually feel if my jewelry is in place... I also periodically check it to make sure all is well...

I kept a retainer in until my septum healed because I didn't want to be constantly touching it with dirty hands. My two favorite pinchers are my BCD and Gorilla Glass ones (coincidentally, I can find neither right now), because they have a divot that keeps them centered.

Your BCD one has a divot? I thought the little7 ones did but my BCD In 10g didn't. 

 I think I'm going to get a little7 pincher then. I hate o-rings and my bcd one always slipped out. 

I haven't been able to wear o-rings in my septum for a while now.  They're just plain old not comfy for me.  When I used to wear CBBs or pinchers, I would always get them large enough where I could scrunch up my face to check alignment with my upper lip.  The only time I ever had anything fall out was when I was sleeping.

 I usually don't wear o-rings because I find them to be a little uncomfy. In the winter I throw them on there because my nose gets runny and then the jewelery shifts around a lot. Without o-rings, I've never had anything fall out- but I primarily wear bone which probably has more staying power than a smooth steel pincher. 

The angles that they're visible at probably aren't angles people are going to be looking at you at too often, eh? 

 I cant stand o-rings in general, Iprefer double flared in my lobes, and if I could wear double flared in my conches I totally would, that being said, I was pierced with a pincher in my septum and I loathed th o-rings, and they were so tiny I was some how worried they would get sucked up into my brain or something, I wear an IS retainer when I'm not wearing my clicker, and my IS retainer is my favorite, though all you bitches with GG pinchers are making me want to stretch my septum, though I wasnt too fond of stretching it the first time.
