    Huh? [:^)] The Smell

I have 00gauges and have friends with gauges as well. We all have been having the same problem with this strange smell. My gauges have been completly healed for 2 months and i'm not going any bigger but i can't get rid of this fucking smell. i clean my ears and earings everyday but this smell keeps coming back. So this is my question. Does anybody know of a ear care product that could solve this stench issue? I'm all out of idea's and if any of you know a resolution to this problem. Please let me know, its so annoying and i will be so greatful. peace

I've never heard of DF's making a difference in ear funk...

To the OP: this is normal, do not fret.

Some people swear by organics such as wood.  For me, silicone works well at keeping the funk down.

    Lobes: 5/8" lobes x2; 2g x1 (2nd hole); 4g x1 (3rd hole). 10g septum. 8g tongue. 12g nipple. 16g eyebrow. 2.5 year old dreads. Sternum microdermal (rejected).

I've found that oiling with vitE or jojoba keeps the stink away.

What I do is remove the jewelry and clean it.  Then I use a small amount of rubbing alcohol on a piece of tissue and wipe the front and back of my lobe (to cut the residue).  Then I go to town oiling my lobes and it's good for a few days.  If you're active or plays sports and stuff, you'll probably wanna wash your lobes daily to remove sweat and all that other yummy stuff that makes your lobes stink.      getting rid of the smell is easy.

    1. get ready for shower as usual

    2. take plugs out (vital step)

    3. shower as usual, rub ears with soap/whatever you wash your body with/water

    4. get out of shower, dry self and ears

    5. oil ears, wash and oil plugs, put plugs back in, is clean and not stinky.

Are you wearing acrylic? This increases the smell for a lot of people, and it's not great for your ears either. Acrylic shouldn't be everyday wear.

Lol, I feel bad for all of you who have like a 12 step program to clean your lobes.

My lobes are naked every moment I'm at home, so maybe that makes 'em not stink... But I don't even clean my ears in the shower.

    Re: The Smell

Other than cleaning my lobes in the shower I don't do much with them either.  Naked oil smells awesome, maybe that helps cut the smell for me?  I've noticed that my ears respond better to silicone and organics than glass and steel, as far as buildup goes.

+1 for taking plugs out and cleaning lobies in the shower; I prefer jojoba oil myself.

I also wear glass and sleep with my plugs out. I've had neglibile [sp?] ear funk since I started wearing steel and glass. Silicone makes me have more ear gunk, but not much.

Well I didn't say soak in alcohol..  That's why I specifically said "wipe" the front and back.  Like you wipe your ass (hopefully) right?  Just a wipe because the alcohol cuts the grease/oils. Then you have a fresh palate for oiling.  And you oil right away so it's not like the alcohol is going to make your lobes shrivel and fall off.  :)

Everyone has their own methods and if that is 12 steps, well then congrats for finding the process that works for you.

My same routine, except for after a fresh stretch.  My ears never smell in the least bit, regardless of what i wear.

My ears haven't had an odor since 12g, I guess I'm lucky. Just washing my ears and jewelery every 2 or 3 days did the trick though.

    Re: The Smell

Wood is great for keeping ear cheese away. My 8ga top lobes usually wear glass and they smell pretty funky at the end of the day, but it doesn't bother me. My 0ga lobes never really get smelly, though, so who knows?

Current: 1/2 in. lobes, right nostril.

    Future: vertical center labret.

Maybes: Tongue, medusa, maybe some cartilage once life settles down.
