    Bioplast labret or PTFE labret?

I've always been a fan of this labret style - but I just realized that the first time I ordered something that looked like this item, it was listed as a PTFE labret - now it's listed as Bioplast.

Are they the same as the old PTFE jewelry, or are they just very similar in appearance?

i love that particular labret, but it definitely has the texture of PTFE from my experience.  it has good integrity but is easy to cut.  i don't know why it's listed as Bioplast--maybe it is--because it's very different from the push-fit labrets that are also labeled as Bioplast.

they have externally threaded bioplast as well.  but i agree, that specific style feels like ptfe.  and from my understanding bioplast is basically ptfe with a brand name, and pushfits.  so maybe its all the same.

PTFE and Bioplast are two different things - PTFE, also known under the brand name Teflon, can be implant-grade and very biosafe, Bioplast is just plastic (high-tech plastic, maybe).

I actually ordered without looking at the name of the product (twice! haha, genius) - I'm comfortable wearing PTFE, but not Bioplast, so I'm very curious to see what the product really is.

I never really need bioplast or PTFE jewelry so I did a quick search and found this http://www.bioplastpiercing.co.za/are_you_buying_genuine_bioplast.htm also technically the name "Teflon" is only the Dupont brand name... But from what I understand both are about the same...

    Im just that awesome!

Re: Bioplast labret or PTFE labret?

You take me too literally. :) Bioplast is just another polymer - it's not considered medically safe to use in human bodies for the long term, whereas PTFE has been used for implants and such, although it's been phased out in lieu of better materials.

And Teflon is, as I said, one brand name it's sold under, and certainly the best-known. But a quick search through the cookware area of a department store would give you tons of brand names, I think.

I know the difference between various types of non-metal jewelry, that's why I'm confused! The Bioplast labrets look and feel identical to the product I ordered back when they were labelled PTFE labrets, so I'm wondering if the label was wrong in the first place or has accidentally been changed now or what. (The funny thing is, I'm wearing metal right now anyway. But I'd put the PTFE in if I knew it was PTFE.)
