    Anatometal FAQ

    Locked Reply Contact

This thread is to compile all of the FAQ from the "Ask Barry Anything" Thread, so that it's easy to find the answers to questions that have already been asked, since it is such a huge thread. The moderators will try to update it as accurately as they can.

Please remember that Anatometal is a wholesale only company, so please refer any pricing questions to the fine staff at BAF.

Random info that needs to be sorted:

Rubies will always be a bit "pinker" than garnet. Garnets will always be a bit more "red" than rubies.

    Through page 53

    Cabochons

Cabochon opals can be used in ALL eyelets.

Cabochon emeralds can be used in eyelets 1" and up.

Cabochon and faceted stones can be mixed in eyelets 1" and up.

MOST cabochon stones can be used in all eyelets, but some stones are too fragile. In 2 MM (7/8" gemmed eyelets on down) there would be issues with stones cracking. 1" and up, there should not be an issue as the stones are larger. Essentially, 7/8" and below can get cabochon black onyx or opals.

Please keep in mind that cabochon stones are more fragile than faceted, and may be more prone to damage from extreme trauma such as being dropped, etc.

Cabochon Opals and Sapphire Cabs are available for the center stones of super blings, but it's a custom item and could take 4-6 weeks.

    General Sizing & Specifications

    Standard backside flares on plugs/eyelets:

    11/16" and larger: .150" (3.089mm), or .075" (1.904mm) per side.

For 5/8" and below its 2mm total, or 1mm per side.

Any size can be made single flare on request, with or without grooves for o-rings

All of the floating blings are roughly 1/16 of an inch larger than the gauge itself around the flare.

    General specifications for non-plug jewelry:

Bezel set cab stones will always sit flatter than a nostril screw with a brillian cut stone due to the height of the stone. Both bezel and prongsets with brilliant cut stones are going to be about the same depth due to the nature of the stones. We make them as flush as possible.

    14 and 12ga barbells both use M1.2 threading, and 10 and 8ga use 0-80

Titanium flat disks are available in 3,4, and 5mm.

    Teardrop-Shaped Plugs/Eyelets

Double flare style and regular (with stones) style - 5/8 up to 2"

Super Teardrops (with the stone in the middle) - 5/8 to 1".

Solid teardrops - 2 gauge and up to...well, likely they'll become too heavy before we reach a size we cannot do.
