Ok i'm currently at 4g, planning to stretch up to 2g.

i've had a look around this forum and haven't really found any answers to my 2 questions.

I'm planning on using tape for this stretch, and i'm wondering is PVC tape ok to use? is it pretty much the same as bondage tape or what? i'm not sure...

 

also, i was wondering why acryllic tapers shouldnt be worn as jewllery, and only used momentarily to aid in jewllery change.

I know acryllic isn't the best material to use in stretched ears, but i'm wondering why everyone says not to wear them as jewllery?

 as for the tape, yes u can use it, but the adhesive on it can be bad for u

 

and as for acrylic tapers:

1 its acrylic, its porous, and can harbor bacteria

2 its a taper, it has unnecessary weight as well as puts unnecessary pressure on ur ear

 An acrylic taper can weigh less than the actual jewelry.  I personally don't mess with acrylic because it irritates my skin.  Also, I agree that a taper is a tool and not jewelry.  But the most important part is the first point in the previous post.

ok, i just wasn't quite sure if the PVC tape was the same thing as bondage tape.

if the tape is too adhesive then i wont use it.

 

i was asking about the acrylic tapers because i wear them.

i like the look of them and havent had any trouble, they don't irritate my ears, neither are they heavy or pulling.

 

will any problems arise from wearing acrylic tapers for longer periods of time? i have been wearing acrylics in my lobes for well over a year and had no problems, maybe to do with the fact my lobes are healed and i clean regularly, and have waited months and months and months to stretch again.

 

 

after reading around on this site, i think it's time for me to invest in some glass plugs....

 ive heard of some people taping with pvc tape, some get irritated by the adhesive, some are fine u can try it out though

and as for the acrylic, some have problems some dont, everyone is different. its just recommend u dont wear them in fresh stretches cuz it is porous , not saying ull get an infection for sure, but its a higher chance than appropriate metal or glass

 

the longest time ive worn a taper has been overnight, an 8g taper and a 0g taper

the 8g taper didint bother me at all, but the 0g did, so size made a diffrence for me

but i think its mainly the fact that a taper's center of gravity is not balanced it will put ur lobe in an unnatural position

Bondage, or PTFE tape would be the best tape to use as it contains no adhesives. It is inexpensive and can be bought almost anywhere hardware is sold.

Acrylic tapers are fine to use as an aid in changing jewelry, and if you're healed, I don't see a problem with wearing them during the day. I would not sleep in them, however, because they could not only be very uncomfortable, but twist and possibly tear your ear from the length.

You should know that if you choose to wear tapers as jewelry, a lot of people will assume you know nothing about stretching or taking care of your body. If you like the look, and if you don't have a problem with that, go for it! It's not like unmodified people won't judge you for stretching your ears in the first place
