So three months after installation, my left microdermal implant finally finished rejecting and popped out today while I was trying to clean some debris out of it. Wasn't painful, I only felt a sharp sting as a piece of dried lymph came out from under the jewelry and then I realized that the anchor had actually popped out entirely. Upon inspection of the jewelry itself I was surprised to see that the foot was actually solid, and didn't have any holes which I had seen in product photos of other anchors. Suspicious, I continued to inspect the piece and found it had a mirror polish and no other visible discrepancies, so I do intend to have it reimplanted once the wound has healed. I'm glad it turned out to be the way it is though, as I was very much not looking forward to having it removed in a way that involved cutting tissue that had grown through it. I'm actually much more at ease with the possibility of needing them to be removed in the future, I imagine it will be a much simpler and less painful procedure and more a case of manipulating it out as opposed to forcefully cutting it out.
Anyway, now I have a small, lymphing open wound and a lump of scar tissue where my implant used to be, and I'm quite dismayed to be asymmetrical right in the middle of summer when I most enjoy showing them off. Rightie is still as happy as ever over on the other side and has never given me any trouble. As soon as the wound is healed over I'm going to begin an aggressive vitamin e massage campaign to try and reduce the scar tissue as much as possible, to ensure that the jewelry may lay flush when I have it reinstalled. And all this just after I bought some genuine opal ends for them. Very disappointing :( Anyone got any tips concerning healing a rejected microdermal? I'm going to watch it like a hawk obviously but if anyone ran into any problems with a similar situation I'd love to hear about it.
