Glass was comfortable for me, but if you want something visible, it wasn't the greatest for me. That's my septum in the picture. I had both glass and niobium for my healing phase, and I found them equally comfortable. I love my Tawapa bone pincher, but I wouldn't buy one unless you are well healed, they tend to vary slightly in size.
I only buy CBRs to size my septum, and figure out which diameter I like best, because I have to change my jewelry for work so often that I find the beads to be a hassle. Pinchers are my favorite, because they can slip in and out easily, and don't require anything to stay in. CBBs are nice too, because I can just unscrew one end.
I had mine pierced at 14g, and it's stretched to 8g currently. It stretched from 14g-6g very easily, almost on it's own with enough time and patience. Septum droop is relative, it really all depends on your anatomy, so it's something you are going to have to watch for yourself. I do not believe I have experienced it yet; I wear a bullet retainer almost daily.
