Septum questions,

I am 14 i have had my septum peirced for about a year and a half.

I need to know if i go to (say an 8 or bigger) if it would still be possible to flip up?

EDIT- i am planning on going to a 6.

current 14g septum.
0g in ears have tapers and plugs for 00 waiting for them to heal up :)

That has almost nothing to do with your actual septum and everything to do with the jewelry you choose to wear in it. The only thing you would need to watch for is septum droop, otherwise, just choose jewelry that is made to hide larger septums.

So can i go to a 6g and still be able to flip it up?..

and will it affect how i breath through my nose when it is flipped up?

current 14g septum.

What do you plan on wearing in it? There is a vast range of jewelry styles you can wear, it's a matter of selecting which is best for you.

You can wear a plug or a bullet instead of flipping it up, if you're wanting to hide it.

i will buy a 6g retainer for when i need it flipped up.

well with a plug i would have to carry around a ring if i wanted to wear something in it after work or school :/

....Or you could just leave the plug in? You don't 'have' to wear rings in your septum. I usually wear a bullet in mine, and if I happen to be home, I change it then.

I know i dont have to but i have OCD and if there isnt a ring in it, it will drive me crazy.

because i play with it alll the time.

and i like how i look with a ring flipped down.

at 8g I regularly wore a circular barbell flipped up. at 4g I was able to wear a cherry bomb and when I removed the ball I was able to flip it up. breathing wasn't as easy, but it was doable.

I don thave a streatched septum, so I wouldn't know, but can't you wear like..a tunnel or so, and put a smaller ring in it?

you are so young, my parents would have killed me if I had my septum pierced at that age. they would never have let me

Current Mods: 5/8" lobes, 18g helix, 16g rook, 16g anti-tragus, 18g double nostrils, 16g septum, clavical microdermals (healing), 5 tattoos including a full sleeve on my left arm that is half way finished

i am at a 00(i love put pencils thru it) and ware a earskin in it all the time if you get it to a 6 and put a earskin in (it will be very hard to get in) you could put in 10-8G cbb or cbr in it and take it out when you need to

ps take it very slow with streching it. earskins are the best because if you get bumped on the nose and it wont hurt as much

When I gauged up to an 8g, I wore a black niobium retainer mostly cause it was short and cute. I flipped it up during work and could breathe just fine. And it didn't itch my nose so much due to the fact that it was shorter. I loved it, sadly I guess my nose couldn't handle gauging or I went a little fast, cause my nose still hurt to touch and bleed every once in a while. So I gauged back down to a 12g. So good luck and take it slow. It will be worth it.

also: The earskin with a CBB or CBR through the hole is a great idea too. My friend's boyfriend did this for work. And earskins are sooo comfortable. Its a monster to get in a septum but a good investment.
