    Hip microdermals?

Let me just start off by saying, I know very little about microdermals except (basically) how they are inserted and that, according to BME, they have something like a 2% rejection rate.

However, the other day I got my septum pierced, and a friend of mine, who came with me, was undecided about what else to have pierced (she already has quite a few) and decided to go with a microdermal on the side of her neck, just under her right ear. Since I was with her when she got it, I got to hear most of what the piercer was saying about it, and it is to my understanding that, as long as the skin isn't too thin or too stretched, you can have a microdermal piercing pretty much anywhere.

So my question is, is it possible to have microdermal piercings on the hips? Because it's something I'd be interested in in the future. I know someone who has hip surface piercings and I think they look amazing, but I'm worried about the high rate of rejection (hers are already starting to look like they're on the way...)

Yes it is possible and quite a few people had it done. However, it tends to be troublesome to get them to heal and they can still act up any time they please. This is mainly because it's a high movement area.

+1 for mangaartist... and microdermals + friction caused by pants = possible bad outcome IMO

I have a microdermal on my left hip, it's two months old. Healing was incredibly easy and it felt completely fine after a week or so, except for the slight bruising. I have a flat healing disc on it, as I was warned against a star (the edges were too pointy to wear for six weeks straight apparently). As for pants friction/catching: mine is pretty much where my pants sit. But it's never caused any issues whatsoever - just don't pull your pants straight down when taking them off, move them away from your hip. All you really need to do is be aware it's there. Though I got mine lower than the average surface bar, so if you wanted them higher that wouldn't be an issue.

Overall, I'd say go for it. It's a brilliant piercing and so much easier than others I've had. :)

Micros have more like a 40% rejection rate. 20% for artists who are doing them correctly. 2% is a load and should be ignored. That being said, I have done hip micros. I have done them successfully. A couple sets I have done are still there almost a year later. So yes, they can be done.
